VirtualBox headless
My objective is also to run headless virtual machines through libvirt library. I am using an Ubuntu 10.04 distro and libvirt 0.9.2. Before asking you guys about it, I searched on the web and found this: Hi, > > thanks for your hint. > > I read the lines in the documentation, but unfortunately editing the xml > > within virsh lead to the errors. > > The Solution to a

CentOS 7.6 1810 vs. VirtualBox : bug with keyboard layout selection
Hi, I'm currently working on my next Linux book, which will be an elementary course about CentOS administration. I'm using VirtualBox for all the installer screenshots. Since CentOS has recently been upgraded to version 7.6, I thought I might as well base all book references on this version. So I downloaded the 7.6 1810 minimal ISO and started a fresh installation in VirtualBox. I'm

headless VirtualBox on Centos
Hello listmates, I am wondering if there is a set of scripts/utilities for automatically starting and running headless (no X11) VM's using VirtualBox omn a CentOS 6 server. VNC/RDP access to the VM's would be fine. Any help much appreciated. Cheers, Boris.

CentOS 6.2: Start and use guest as regular user under qemu-kvm?
Trying to set up a copy of CentOS 6.2 for home use and give each family member their own guest. Goal is to cripple the host so that no meaningful work can be done through it and each family member must use their own guest. "Gold Disk" masters would be kept of each guest, so if they screw it up, I can simply overwrite their current guest from the master. SELinux is enabled and sVirt

RC1 Zfs writes a lot slower when running X
Hi, I have OpenSolaris on an Amd64 Asus-A8NE with 2gig of Rams and 4x320 gig sata drives in raidz1. With dd, I can write at quasi disk maximum speed of 80meg each for a total of 250meg/s if I have no Xsession at all (only console tty). But as soon as I have an Xsession running, the write speed drops to about 120MB/s. Its even worse if I have a VBoxHeadless running with an idle win2k3 inside. It

How can I make sVirt work with LXC (libvirt-0.9.13)?
?Hi, ?I've installed libvirt-0.9.13 on RHEL6.2 from the source code. I cannot make sVirt working with LXC. (sVirt works well with KVM, though.) I can start an LXC instance, but the label of the process is not right. Can someone help me? I tried to change /etc/libvirtd/lxc.conf file to explicitly enable security_driver = "selinux". But it ends up with error saying "error :

headless VirtualBox on Centos
Awesome! Thanks for your replies everybody. I was looking more or less at the same options. Just was wondering if there was a ready-made set of scripts somewhere to set all of this in motion to save me a little time - but if not, I will just make one. Cheers, Boris. guestfs_launch() fails when C application is started as a systemd service
Hello, I have a simple C program that uses libguestfs to extract info about disk usage from a libvirt domain. It works when ran manually as root, but fails when started as a systemd service. I'm attaching the service file, source code and verbose logs from both the successful manual run and from the service journal. SELinix is disabled. Error messages: libguestfs:

Systemd and VirtualBox
The continuing challenges of getting a workable server continue. The latest spins of VirtualBox seem to have solved the issues of DKMS auto compiles of the driver being aborted. The yum updates work as expected, provided one stops the running vms manually first. However, trying to get systemd to start the vms is proving to be a PITA. I have extensively googled and found that there are no

CentOS 6.5 VirtualBox
Hi Is anyone here using VirtualBox? I've had it working rather well for some time, but after some recent upgrade or the other it's started exiting with a Segmentation fault just after startup, before windows are opened or anything. I've tried a few different versions, all with the same result. I'm using binary packages http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/rpm/el. So,

Please warn a home user against OpenSolaris under VirtualBox under WinXP ; )
Pardon in advance my n00b ignorance. (Yes I have googled a lot before asking.) I am considering VirtualBoxing away one physical machine at home, and running WinXP as host (yes, as atrocious it may seem, explanation below [1]) and OpenSolaris guest as file server, with OpenSolaris (why?[2]) having raw access to all my SATA drives. (OSes on the IDE channel). This is for home use, as a media

Re: Libvirt access control drivers
Here https://libvirt.org/acl.html is stated that you designed this access control system as pluggable. Are there any options ( even with modifying libvirt code) to plug in any custom driver? I just need to take a try and design something that will support remote access control. I am not sure if sVirt is the right thing I should look at. 2018-05-09 11:27 GMT+03:00 Daniel P. Berrangé

libvirt, OSX and VirtualBox - how?
I have a new OSX Lion Macbook and would like to control VirtualBox using "virsh" (as I do with KVM under Ubuntu). I've got this far: * Installed VirtualBox * Installed libvirt (brew install libvirt) But now I'm a bit stuck :-) I ran VirtualBox itself, and created a test VM successfully. If I try to use virsh, this is what I get: Brians-MacBook-Air:~ $ virsh -c

Fedora 18 / Rawhide switch over to using libvirt as the back end
Just a note [possibly more of a warning] that I'm intending to switch the default backend in Fedora 18+ to libvirt this week. For more information about what this means, see: https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2012/07/23/new-in-libguestfs-use-libvirt-to-launch-the-appliance/#content Barring any bugs, the change ought to be transparent. The reasons why we're making this change in Fedora are:
