CentOS-6.5 - CD/DVD does not sense media
I dealing with problem 1 - see previous message - I set about creating a live DVD on my development system. Now I find that I cannot seem to mount a medium in that drive. wodim --devices reports it as present and so does cdrecode. I can use the eject utility to toggle the tray open and closed. But when I load a blank dvd or cd in that unit I get nothing on my desktop - in other words I am not

Torrent: reminder to use it folks!
Well, there's so few going right now that I'm showing 38 days to get the DVD. My normal dnld from a mirror travels appx. 600Mb/sec. I'll wait until most of the U.S. goes home before I give up and use the normal download though. Here's hoping... -- Bill

DVD Shrink - no DVD devices found
I am new to Wine and really struggling. I'm trying to get DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter running on my Kubuntu 5.04. My system is current. I have a 2.8Mhz machine with 1Gb memory and lots of space on my 160Gb hard drive. I have a Plextor DVD+-RW and an HP CD-RW. They are /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd respectively. Here is my /fstab file: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # <file

problems with burning i386 centos 6 dvd
Hey guys, Thanks a lot for the CentOS 6 distro. I am having trouble burning the i386 dvds. I tried on a RHEL 6 deskop and also a CentOS 5 laptop. The command I am running on both systems is this: growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=4 -Z /dev/sr0=/home/gsgatlin/CentOS-6.0-i386-bin-DVD/CentOS-6.0-i386-bin-DVD.iso The error I am seeing is: :-( /dev/sr0: 2295104 blocks are free, 2297586 to be written!

CentOS 6 x86_64 DVD doesn't boot
Hi Everyone, I downloaded the CentOS 6 x86_64 DVD ISOs and burned the first image to a rewritable DVD. When I tried to boot my new home server off it, it didn't, and then this was printed to the screen: ETCDisolinux: Found something at drive = EF No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! boot: The same disc works fine in my 4 year old HP laptop, and when installing CentOS 6 as a KVM.

DVD RAM drive and CentOS 4
I just picked up a Sony DRU-820A, 2 layar, DVD+-R, +-RW, RAM drive. It seems to be ok in the normal modes, but I'm not sure what I need to due with the RAM usage. I have some DVD-RAM disks. I put one in on the off chance it would just work, but it said it wasn't formatted. What do I need to due to use the this in RAM mode. I didn't find anything that seemed to be aimed at this.

Yum messages: /usr/lib/liblzo.so.1 is not a symbolic link
Ran yum update this A.M. Got this. Is it a problem for rpmforge, CentOS or just me? Maybe not a problem at all? /etc/ld.so.conf.d files are "box stock", so there were no clues there. TIA for any insight. =================================================== Running Transaction Updating : cups-libs [ 1/10] /sbin/ldconfig: /usr/lib/liblzo.so.1 is

DVD reader: Hardware problem or OS glitch?
Hello: The box is dual boot (Win XP & CentOS 5). A Dell Dimension 4300 Celeron. There was an intermittent problem with this last year and last Thanksgiving, I wiped the HD and installed Win XP and CentOS 5 clean. My daughter asked me to install KStars which is in the kdeedu RPM on the Fedora Core 6 Install DVD. I did that, without any problems, on my box and on my wife's box. On the

About I386 not fitting on one DVD
Just a thought If the I386 (or i686, never could figure out why the name change) disk doesn't quite fit on the DVD+, and needs a DVD-, this might put some folks at an inconvenience. I wonder if the difference between fitting and not fitting is small enough, so that some amount of pruning might make it fit on the DVD+R image. Some ways to prune could be: a) Create two versions of the

How do I blank or overwrite DVD-RW disks in CentOS 5?
I'm trying to use DVD-RW ("minus RW") disks in my LG GSA-4040B drive. I can write a new disk just fine, but can't find any way to blank or re-use a disk. When I run xcdroast and click on the "Blank CD/DVD+-RW" button, I get "Error while blanking." Here is last part of the dialog: Using generic SCSI-3/mmc DVD-R(W) driver (mmc_mdvd) Driver flags

NEC 1300A DVD-R writing
Hi, so I just bought a NEC 1300A, primarily, because it allows me to write DVD+ and -RW. Using DVD-R discs (and currently no options to try other media, due to shops being closed), I'm unable to write anything, using either the dvd+rwtools port, or the dvdrtools. I've exhausted all references to be found in google, which are in a language I understand, so I'm hoping the list can

formating DVR-RW
My Centos 6 wodim tell me that it can only format DVD+RW. I have DVD-RWs. Even when I format a DVD-RW on my standalone DVD recorder, wodim still will not write to it. Is there a centos-6-useable mechanism for formatting and writing DVD-RWs? -- Michael hennebry at web.cs.ndsu.NoDak.edu "Sorry but your password must contain an uppercase letter, a number, a haiku, a gang sign, a heiroglyph,

formating DVR-RW
Hi, i am upstream developer of libburn. Nevertheless, the following is intended to be purely technical info, not advertising. Better do not use wodim with DVD media. It was forked from a CD-only version of cdrecord and got added not-so-skilled code for operating DVD. One should use dvd+rw-tools or a program that has libburn as backend. I am not aware whether cdrecord is meanwhile willing to

Zimbra on CentOS4.3 x86_64.
Alle, Has anyone gotten Zimbra to work on an installation of CentOS4.3, x86_64 architecture? I have tried to install the RHEL4 3.1.4 32-bit version with the following error: Found zimbra-core Error: attempting to install i386 packages on a x86_64 OS. Exiting... Shouldn't this work with 32-bit compat? I've also tried to install RHEL4_64 4.0.0.RC1 but post installation fails when
