Virtual RPM howto?
Can someone point me to a howto or an example of a virtual package? I'm building Diaspora (the open source competitor to Facebook) and I figured it would be handy to gather all the prereqs into a virtual package. I'm working from these instructions, which seemed to go fine on CentOS 6: <https://github.com/diaspora/diaspora/wiki/Installing-on-Fedora>

Giving a hand to Nouveau
Hello everybody out there! Well, I just subscribed to this mailing list, so I guess I should introduce myself, at least giving relevant information about me concerning the development of Nouveau. You can call me a scientist, and I am doing simulation code. Therefore, my experience in coding is about high performance computing and scientific visualisation–and also about teaching. I have some

RPM rollback/repackage with CentOS 4
Hi, Is there any way to list availabe RPM rollback's and timestamps in CentOS 4? graphically representing frequency of words in a speech?
Dear all, I recently saw a graph on television that displayed selected words/phrases in a speech scaled in size according to their frequency. So words/phrases that were often used appeared large and words that were rarely used appeared small. The closest thing I can find on the web to approximate what I saw can be found here: http://stateoftheunion.onetwothree.net/ The example at that website

GZIP, ZIP, ISO, RPM files and rsync, tar, cpio
I noticed with rsync and compressed files or package files the transfer efficiency drops considerably. Eg. rsync an ISO image of a distribution will give you between 30% and 60% of the original transfer although from Beta1-Beta2 the change could not have been that great. The same thing happens with ZIP files for obvious reasons. My question or feature request if you want to call it is. Is it

installing perl-CPAN without perl-local-lib
I'm still working on getting my brand new Centos 7 mail server working and I'm having problems with Perl. Most of the modules are available as RPM's which was straight forward. However, MIME::Parser, Net::SCP and Net::SSH aren't. In order to get these working I installed the perl-CPAN rpm and then installed the modules above. Doing this, installed perl-local-lib.noarch as a

Public free (libre) mailbox hosting service for everybody!
Hello e-mail software developers and users! I'd like to ask all of you a question. And of course hear relevant opinion. I've been using free software happily for a few years, and I found free/open source alternatives for many popular proprietary tools such as Facebook, Dropbox, Micro$oft Windows & Office, Youtube, Skype and many many others. Some of the alternatives are probably

Webm files written without duration in header
Hi Fred. Appreciate your response. Maybe in my explanation I have some red and green apples, but I can agree that my understanding is as you explained it. 😊 The point is that if I can successfully stream mp4 with H.264 and AAC encoding without any issues to icecast, I can then use ffmpeg to turn it into HLS which then solves my iOS support issue. The CPU cost of repackaging MP4 into HLS

[LLVMdev] Web Site Re-Design
I offered to do the web site a couple of weeks ago. Life got in the way temporarily, and it took me a long time to make it look the way that I wanted and to make it look the same in IE6. Anyway, I wanted to get some feedback on what I had done. Some concerns: 1. SSI and JavaScript seem like overkill. Each subproject can have their own look and feel by overriding the CSS

OT: Installing munin-node cleanly in spite of RPM
Hi, This is totally off-topic (it''s an rpm/rpmbuild problem), but I want to get to a point where I''m installing and configuring munin-node with puppet. To do that, I need a clean, standardized way of installing munin-mode on CentOS (RHELish) boxes. I could install munin-node from source via puppet and probably make enough edits that all the files end up in reasonable locations

SNMP on HP UPS
We use HP R5500XR UPS, and they all have SNMP cards. These devices supposedly use the IETF MIB, but in order to get the SNMP driver to talk to them I have had to hack it slightly. I'd like to see these UPS proplerly supported in the official nut release (mostly so I don't have to faff around patching and repackaging when a new version comes out) and would be more than happy to provide

Need help getting nouveau drivers working on Fedora 13
My desktop computer uses a GeForce FX 5200 card and, when I was using Fedora 11, the kmod-nvidia drivers (a Fedora-specific repackaging of the binary blob) worked Just Fine. Now, even though I've followed all of the instructions for them, they don't. In fact, my system won't even complete booting if they're active. (I'm posting from a laptop, while I'm trying to get
