expunge not removing attachments?
I have a large mail backup folder backup at backup.invalid; I'm cleaning
up daily like this:
infimum=`date -d "-4 day" +"%Y-%m-%d"`
doveadm expunge -u backup at backup.invalid mailbox INBOX SAVEDBEFORE $infimum
doveadm purge -u backup at backup.invalid
yet I see this:
# find attachments/ -type f -ctime +5 | wc -l
7522
# find attachments/ -type f | wc -l
127579

replication and spam removal ("doveadm expunge")
Hello everybody,
since now I did no replication and spam is delivered into users folder "spambox"
Every night there is a cronjob which deletes spam older than 30 days via something like
"find .... -ctime +30 -delete"
Now I'm going to set up replication (two way) and I thought that
doing "rm" is not a good idea.
So I modified the job to something like

X-SAVEDATE & dync & doveadm expunge
Hello List,
After moving the mail store via dsync backup to a different location the
following command
doveadm expunge -u user mailbox "Trash" savedbefore 10d
deleted ALL mails in Trash instead of messages older than 10 days.
It looks like X-SAVEDATE is somehow wrong...
A fetch 1:* (internaldate x-savedate)
* 1 FETCH (INTERNALDATE "28-Dec-2007 14:49:58 +0100" X-SAVEDATE

Problem with expunge
I'm running Dovecot 2.0.8.
The other day I tested doveadm expunge on a test Inbox with a few
messages received over the course of a day, and using savedbefore <a
few hours>, and it seemed to work.
However, today I was testing converting some maildirs over to sdbox,
and noticed odd behavior: it's deleting all messages in the specified
folder instead of just the ones matching the

Many messages clustered around the same date.saved value
Subject: Different user messages clustered around the same date.saved value
After updating dovecot to 2.1.3, I can now use "doveadm expunge -A ..."
to iterate through all user trash folders and expunge old messages.
However, I noticed a strange thing: querying what would have been deleted
doveadm -ftab fetch -A "date.saved" mailbox Trash savedbefore 7d
showed many

CentOS 5.6 PHP 5.3 and SquirrelMail
OK, so I did an upgrade to PHP 5.3 on one of my servers. I noticed the
uninstall of php also removed SquirrelMail and it won't install under
PHP 5.3. Has anybody worked this out with a good RPM or repo solution?

Intrusion Detection Systems
Situation: We are providing hosting services.
I've grown tired of the various kiddie scripts/dictionary attacks on
various services. The latest has been against vsftpd, on systems that I
can't easily control vs. putting strict limits on ssh. We simply have
too many users entering from too many networks many with dynamic IP
addresses.
Enter.... thinking about LIDS or Log Based

Purging Deleted Messages
I noticed today I checked a users mailbox with the mutt command:
mutt -f /home/bob/email/
There I saw he had 100 messages that had been deleted but not yet
purged from his inbox so they're still using up disk storage on my
email server.
My question is does Dovecot have a process to automatically delete
these messages after a certain period of time? I would like to think
that they don't

Bind Issues
I'm running bind in a chroot environment. It seems that since the Redhat
snafu which wrecked bind (yes, I had caching nameserver running as well
but not anymore) I have been having problem with my slave nameservers
retrieving updates from the master.
Looking at the zone records, some are owned by root, some are owned by
named. I'm now confused as to what the ownership should be and

Doveadm-Expunge v2.0.5
Hello
Few questions regarding Doveadm-Expunge.
1.
I have lazy expunge configure with this name space: .EXPUNGED
Storage type: mdbox
doveadm -Dv expunge -u user at domain mailbox ".EXPUNGED/*" savedbefore 7d
I get some interesting outputs.
doveadm(user at domain): Debug: expunge: box=.EXPUNGED/INBOX/mon uid=791

Random Proliant Crashes CentOS 6.1
I've been seeing some random Proliant DL380 G4 64bit crashes. Each time,
on the console are messages relating tojbd2/cciss and something about a
waitfor 120 seconds. Is anybody else seeing anything like this? Oddly, I
can't seem to find this in the logs. I guess it can't write when this
happens.
