OT: Hardware upgrade help
I would like to upgrade my system to a 64 bit machine. I'd like to find a
bare bones platform to build on. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on
this as it is a home system. I looked on the CentOS sponsor page but only
saw hosting services.
I haven't kept up with hardware in years so I'm dumber than dirt on what's
out there. I would prefer a desktop so I can stack it.

Strange Postfix problem
Hello,
Was trying to setup postfix on my home PC. Running Centos 6.4. I don't
have a static IP and use zoneedit and ddclient to keep my installation
of zoneminder current.
So I decided I wanted to get zoneminder to send me email alerts. Sent
some test messages but none were sent.
I went to webdnstools website thinking maybe there is a dns or network
problem.
When it checks my dns setup,

Question about 7.3
I haven't done a fresh install in years. I've always gone the upgrade route.
Seemed to have always worked for me.
I moved to 7.3 since it supports the latest versions of some programs I want
to use to implement as a backup server/RAID/NAS for 3 machines here at home
and a remote laptop at work.
So, the question is, is there something different in 7.3 than the previous 7
versions?

Zoneminder
I have a few dvr's that I am contemplating converting to Zoneminder (don't
know any other app) and would prefer to use CentOS over fedora obviously
but the only rpm I see exists for Fedora.
I don't want the hassle of manually compiling this, as we have our own config
mgmt.
Anyone using this rpm (srpm recompiled) in CentOS or know of a solution
that exists?
Thanks!

zoneminder
Is there a package for zoneminder in the std repos (base, rpmfusion,
epel), or just on rpmforge?

DNS or firewall problem
Been working this for over a month now and I'm stumped.
Everything was working until the 'crash'. Backup was no good so I did a
fresh install of centos 5.5. Trying to get things back like they were but
its been a really long time since I had to set things up from scratch,
Redhat 2.0.
My centos server acts as a gateway/firewall/router for my home network.

ipset and blacklisting
This is what ipset can do for traffic on a home server that's not wanted on
a slow 6MB DSL connection.

I only use my home server for zoneminder, testing my commercial website and
streaming movies.
Got tired of hackers looking for files that don't exist on my home server
and non-complying robots.
Check the drop in bandwidth.

Problems with new kernels
Hello,
I have been having problems using kernels since 2.6.9-34.0.2. After
updating to a new kernel, my system runs, I'm guessing, 6 - 8 hours fine,
then becomes unresponsive. For example, I installed the latest kernel the
other evening, reboot for the changes and by morning, the system appears to
be locked up. Typing 'yum update' takes about 10 minutes to execute.

6.1 Release
OK,
So how can we help getting CentOS 6.1 released? This is a "Community"
project. I'm not a programmer, IT person but I do ask a lot of help from
this list. What do we need to do or how can the 'average person' help? Can
you send us some files to test? What? I'd like to help but don't know how.
