VLAN's
Hi,
I have a firewall running IPTABLES. I have tried to route sip traffic from
my WAN(eth3) interface to a VLAN(eth2.2) interface, however the data will
not route to the VLAN it keeps routing to the default interface(eth2). Does
anyone have an idea as to what I need to look for?

Crontab problem
Hi,
I seem to have a problem with crontab. I am running CentOS 5.5. If I add my
bakup scripts into crontab they take very long to run. If I run my scripts
manually they run 100%. I have also tried vixiecron, same issue. Any ideas?
Thanks
Jenny

Lua status in asterisk.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA512
Hi
I have searched a bit for information regarding the status on the
dialplan in lua (pbx_lua.so). I know that 'hint' won't work and has to
be put in the regular extensions.conf/ael. Are there any other
considerations? Features that are not implemented, or known stability
issues?
Thanks,

Emerging Tech: Who''s going?
Ryan McMinn as well as myself from Unspace Interactive are going to ETech
next week.
We know fellow Torontonian David Crow will be there with bells on.
And clearly DHH is coming to do his workshop.
Who else is coming, and is there any interest in trying to do a Rails BOF
during the main conference? Obviously a lot of folks are going to do the
workshop, but most people don''t arrive

Looking for recommendations for blocking hacking attempts
Hello:
I have been looking into projects that will automatically
restrict hacking attempts on my servers running CentOS 5.
I think the two top contenders are:
DenyHosts - http://denyhosts.sourceforge.net
Fail2ban - http://www.fail2ban.org
>From what I see, DenyHosts only blocks based on failed
SSH attempts whereas Fail2ban blocks failed attempts
for other access as well.
The main benefit

Multpiple sound cards with ices client?
I was wondering is it possible to use the ices client with
more that one soundcard under Centos Linux?
I only want to stream one mono audio feed to icecast, but am
already using the Line input of my sound card for something
else, and the mic input might be far to sensitive.
TIA

looking for cool, post-install things to do on a centos 5.5 system
(note: i asked this a few days ago but it *appears* that that post
was tossed due to getting excessive bounces from my account. so i'm
posting it again, apologies if you're seeing it a second time.)
over the next several weeks, i'm teaching some courses in RHEL admin
but (unsurprisingly) i'll be using centos 5.5. it's a

I am trying to finalize the use of rsync for updatiung a new nfs server
before we take the old one offline. I keep getting the following
warning during the rsync process:
Warning: unexpected rad size of 0 in map_ptr
Any ideas where this comes from and how to make it go away? I am using
rsync 2.5.2 on Solaris 8 to pull data from rsync 2.5.2 on Solaris 7.

Hacking attempt, Asterisk 1.4
Hi all
We have an Asterisk server that?s been running for a few years now without
problems. We have IPTables running, as well as fail2ban and have followed
all the security recommendations we have found.
Every few weeks we get an attack that lasts about a minute or two, resulting
in our AGI script being overloaded.
What happens is that somebody seems to be trying to connect from our

mindrot.org TMDA sending multiple auto-responder spams
Hi,
It is a shame I feel obliged to write this email.
I sent a single email with a possible bug in it, asking if it was
working in a newer release. I got 3 spam emails from mindrot.org. Two
asking me to confirm, and then when I was forced to confirm I got
another auto-responder spam. If I had wanted the 3rd spam I would have set
"return receipt".
I got this (below) auto-responder

Loc function in R??
Does anyone know which function (if any) will return the index of the
true locations in a Boolean vector?
For instance:
A=c(1,3,5,7,4);
B=c(2,4,77,3,3);
X=A<B;
So X is:
> X
[1] TRUE TRUE TRUE FALSE FALSE
I'd like to know if there is a function that will tell me the locations
of where the TRUE values are? for instance a vector that will list that
the locations are at

Hacking
Anyone know how someone can hack an asterisk box and register with every single account on the box.
This box only has 3 accounts, with very complex passwords. Have VoIP blacklist setup and fail2ban...
The hackers were able to make 2 calls to Cuba before my alerting system texted me.
I am running asterisk 16.3 with PJSIP.
This is my only box open to the outside world, a requirement for this one

large dataset!
Hi, I need to analyze data that has 3.5 million observations and
about 60 variables and I was planning on using R to do this but
I can't even seem to read in the data. It just freezes and ties
up the whole system -- and this is on a Linux box purchased about
6 months ago on a dual-processor PC that was pretty much the top
of the line. I've tried expanding R the memory limits but it

inverse F distribution in R?
Dear all,
I'm looking for a function that calls the inverse F-distribution.
Something equivalent to FINV in matlab or excel.
Does anyone know if such a function already exists for R? (I haven't
been able to find one.)
Thanks for any leads.

extracting vectors from lists of lists
Good evening
I often have as output from simulations a list of various values, vectors
and matrices.
Supposing that I then run said simulation several times, I often want to
extract a particular result from each simulation for plotting and,
ideally, put it in a matrix.
A simple example
v1 <- 1:5
v2 <- 6:10
other1 <- "stuff"
other2 <- "stuff"
set1 <-
