Building CentOS 6.2 custom install media
Hi, For the OLPC school server ("XS") we are planning to move from our dated F9 setup to CentOS 6.2. Thanks for all the effort involved in producing this distro. One important part of this project is a 'respin' of the install media - we need to add a handful of packages from external repositories, and maybe run a command late in the install. Are the scripts/configurations used

Making custom USB install media
Hey List, I apologize for how broad this may be, but hopefully someone here can help me out. I need to make custom kickstart installers to be used in the field to install microservers (Intel NUCs, EFI boot) that don't have optical drives and may not have internet connections. I can make a custom ISO just fine using the pretty common steps, specifically following what's here:

Setting up a cups printer
I'm trying to set up a cups printer but I don't know much about printing in linux and am a bit confused. I've installed a printer in cups using the web interface and it works fine. All the tutorials I've read though refer to /var/spool/lpd/lp but on my system this doesn't exist. I'm guessing this is because I'm not using lpd, I'm using cups. There are a few

newbie uk questions...
hi: Just starting out with *, and I'm planning to heed the advice to start simple and small, but the goal i'm aiming for eventually is: *-based pbx for 10-20 seat small business, based in the UK. Users will have PoE SIP hardphones. So far so good, but two questions, both UK-specific, relating to connection to the outside world (PSTN or VoIP): - are there any UK-based VoIP providers

New to Centos and have question about updating packages
I have been using Freebsd for along time. I have a client of mine that wants me to use Centos for his email server and web server. Anyway with Freebsd to update the packages file you use the following commands. portsnap fetch fetches all the current port trees portsnap update adds all the new ports to the tree on the server portupgrade -arR will install all the ports that are installed on the

OT: cheap DVD-RAM media?
A bit off-topic. Not a question on how to get it working, but rather question about an practical issue after you get it to work ;-) I got a DVD burner that supports DVD-RAM (in addition to standard DVD+R/-R). I really liked "use it just like hard disk" properties of DVD-RAM, and according to some sources I found, the media itself is more resistant to ageing than standard DVD+R/-R.

Making custom USB install media
Almost. I've read that, and I can get it to work. I guess I could phrase my question as "Given that the default image for 6.6 and 7.0 do this, how do I make custom media that does it to?" When I make custom media, it only works off an actual DVD. I need help making custom media that has that USB/EFI magic in it.

Nagios and Asterisk
Does anyone have some decent Nagios scripts out there that do more than monitor the proc itself? Rather than reinvite the wheel, figured I'd ask. I already saw the one on the wiki. Matt

[Gluster-devel] Integration of GPU with glusterfs
It is disappointing to see the limitation being put by Nvidia on low cost GPU usage on data centers. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/03/nvidia_server_gpus/ We thought of providing an option in glusterfs by which we can control if we want to use GPU or not. So, the concern of gluster eating out GPU's which could be used by others can be addressed. --- Ashish ----- Original

We are serving the mp3s with .nsv endings since that is what the oddcast plugin seems to send by default when mp3 is

Announcing Glusterfs release 3.12.4 (Long Term Maintenance)
Hey Niels, Installed 3.12.4 from centos-gluster312-test on my dev ovirt hyper converged cluster. Everything looks good and is working as expected for storage, migration, & healing. Need any specifics? -D > From: Jiffin Tony Thottan <jthottan at redhat.com> > Subject: [Gluster-users] Announcing Glusterfs release 3.12.4 (Long Term Maintenance) > Date: December 19, 2017 at

Announcing Glusterfs release 3.12.4 (Long Term Maintenance)
The Gluster community is pleased to announce the release of Gluster 3.12.4 (packages available at [1,2,3]). Release notes for the release can be found at [4]. We still carry following major issue that is reported in the release-notes as follows, 1.) - Expanding a gluster volume that is sharded may cause file corruption ??? Sharded volumes are typically used for VM images, if such volumes

Fax with Asterisk and Sipura 2100
I know the subject of faxing has been covered in some detail, but I was wondering if anyone has a hardware configuration similar to ours that has faxes working successfully and would be willing to share any settings/insight. We are unable to fax reliably with a Sipura 2100 connected to Asterisk. We do not route calls over the Internet and our network has very low latency. The Asterisk

two problems with flac and ices 0.4 build
i'm trying to build ices0.4 and vorbis-tools 1.0.1 with flac 1.1.1. Neither seems happy, hence the crossposting (sorry). ICES0.4 --- ices refuses to see the libFLAC library, even if i specify --with-flac=/usr/local/lib (or even just --with-flac=/usr/local/, as the configure script seems to look in the lib and include subdirectories of the specified path?). i get a configure error:
