similar to: CentOS 5.7: stop level 3 beep

On my laptop, I have not been able to get KDE to run; I always get gnome. I installed selecting KDE, and I tried yum groupinstall, which appeared to work, but I still get gnome running. BTW, I boot to level 3, and run startx. Thanks for your suggestions. Mike.

I learned from Anne that if I boot to level 5, after I enter the username, can select Gnome or KDE. I note that the default is always Gnome. How can I make the default KDE? How can I get KDE with startx after booting to level 3? Thanks, Mike.

After following various advice I received on other threads to get the Broadcom wlan0 on my laptop to work I have still not succeeded. Therefore I am changing from CentOS 6.0 to 5.7 . I have a normal setup of calls coming in on analog lines (4 of them) coming into an old KX1232 pbx. I have those lines forwarded to a T1 card in the KX1232 going over to my T1 card, it then uses IAX going over to my REAL asterisk pbx. Hello, I use pam_winbind for users authentification and pam_mount for mounting homedirs stored on w2k3 fiel server. I still have two more problems to solve: 1. I?m not able to set proper access rights on homedir. I want to set them to 700 but after mounting the homedir access rights are set to 777. I used to use pam_mkhomedir umask=0077 attribute to set proper rights, but this have no effect
