HDT-0.3.5-pre3 is out
The -pre3 release is out and tends to be the last one before the release.
This pre version adds two new features we thought it would be
interesting to have in 0.3.5:
- Reboot
If your system features the reboot.c32 module, the "reboot" command will
restart your computer.
The floppy/iso images we provides includes this module to enable this
feature.
- Automatic Commands

configure network bridge listing bridged intefaces
Hi all,
Having a 4 NIC server, I want to bridge eth2 and eth3, with a bridge
named br0.
Searching the web I only found about creating a file
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br0, but did not find where to
explicitely list what ports will be bridged.
Where is it configured?
Thank you.

again, nic driver order
I have two servers with identical hardware ... TYAN i3210w system
boards with dual intel gigabit interfaces, and a PCI intel gigabit
nic. I'm running Centos 5.4, x86_64, 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5
Every other time I reboot, the nics initialize in a different order.
anaconda had setup /etc/modprobe.conf with alias lines for the cards:
alias eth0 e1000
alias eth1 e1000e
alias eth2 e1000e
However,

tcptrack
Does anybody have a working version of tcptrack running on Centos 6 x64?
The rpmforge rpm installs and runs on the -t eth# command, but if you
add a port to it, it bombs with a pcap compile error. It runs fine for
me on Centos 5 x64, but seems to have what looks like an old bug
reintroduced in 6.

how to recreate eth0 - Realtek 8169sc
Hi all,
Our intranet's WAN interface just stopped working yesterday, and I
can't figure it out.
The machine has a Gigabyte motherboard, with on-board
RTL-8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet and D-Link PCI NIC for the LAN
side. I can get into the LAN side without an issue, but can't see the
WAN side at all.

after they forced the cisco ports to gigE, I was seeing 200-400Mbps in

Resolv.conf being overwritten
I am trying to add 127.0.0.1 to my resolv.conf. I added it through the
system-config-network but if I reboot, its gone. I do not have the caching
nameserver package installed. My ISP's nameservers are there. It must have
something to do with DHCP.
Also, in the network config GUI, should I select the IPv6 option for either
or both network cards?
TIA

Kickstart ksdevice question
This should be easy to answer (I hope).? We routinely kickstart boxes to
use for managing our customers RADIUS/DHCP configurations (along with
other things).? We've had a C7 kickstart in place since I built one in
May and are finally starting to roll it out for new installations.? But,
I'm curious as to what ksdevice= actually does.
With the C6 we routinely used ksdevice=eth0 since we

Logon Hours with Samba PDC
I have been searching for information about implementing Logon Hours with a
Samba 2.2.5 PDC (or for that matter any version of SAMBA) but haven't yet
noticed any postings or correspondence. I have set up a a Samba PDC and
have mapped shares, authenticated users, blah blah blah, .... everything
seems to work fine. I checked with 'rpcclient' to see what sort of

tcng ingress policing question
Hi all
I started playing with tcng to generate my tc rules, but I have some
difficulty implementing my rules...
The script below generates an error:

tc qdisc add dev eth0 ingress

The script is below, I changed the real IP numbers for XXs and YYs,
since it doesn''t really matter what they are. eth0 is the

Redefine ethX interface names in CentOS 5.11?
Hi,
I have a LAN server running CentOS 5.11 with two NICs eth0 and eth1. I'd
like to swap the interface names, but I don't know how to go about that
under CentOS.
Here's what I would do on a Slackware server (I have one next to me in
my office).
Open /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and edit it:
# PCI device 0x8086:/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.0/0000:03:00.0

ASUS P4BGL-MX hangs
Hi there,
sorry for rather long mail. Two verbose dmesgs and `pciconf -vl` outputs
attached.
trying to set up new machine based on ASUS P4BGL-MX motherboard, I'd
encountered hangs after detecting pcib1 (ICH2). MB has rl 8100 ethernet chip
onboard.
This is for 4.8-R; however, machine hangs in very similar way also with 4.4-R
and 5.1-R.

Traditional network interface naming scheme vs. persistent naming
Hi,
I'm currently experimenting with CentOS 7 in order to get a grasp of
everything that's new.
After having read the FAQ entry on network interface names, I decided to
revert to the tradictional interface naming scheme by adding the
relevant kernel options to the bootloader. This went well, I have now
two interfaces names 'eth0' and 'eth1' as expected.

Problems with Intel Ethernet and module e1000e
Hi all,
I'm facing a serious problem with the e100e kernel module for Intel
82574L gigabit nics on Centos 6.
The device eth0 suddenly stops working i.e. no more networking. When I
do ifconfig from console I get

inet6 addr: fe80::225:90ff:fe50:8fea/64 Scope:Link
