XFCE4 group missing on Centos 5.x?
I had XFCE group installed and working on C5.8 32 bit.
I have done a fresh installation using the C 5.5 DVD.
I cannot seem to find the XFCE group now. Has this been
removed from Centos 5.x ?
TIA

CentOS 5.3 and NTFS
Aaaaaa, I'm pulling out my hair over here!
I have an external USB drive which I had at work, connected just fine
to my CentOS 5.3 box. I recall there was some jiggery-pokery
involved, but do not recall just what.
So now I'm on my wife's freshly installed CentOS 5.3 laptop trying to
get it going, and I keep getting errors about
FATAL: Module fuse not found.

That's not been my experience... gparted does use ntfs-3g to work on NTFS
partitions (what linux-based tool doesn't?), but does not by default set

I tend to disagree with that advice...
I would recommend http://gparted.org/livecd.php over the microsoft-supplied
tools, in a heartbeat.
Boot off that Live image on a CD or thumbdrive (or use the version of

Why? If you use gparted (ntfsprogs, under the covers, IIRC), the system
will chkdsk on the next boot. No such requirement exists with
Microsoft's tools.

Kickstart User Guide in PDF & DVI format
Hi all.
I have uploaded a PDF and DVI version of the Kickstart
manual for anyone to download and use.
I created this for my own personal use when learning to
write kickstart files.
You can grab the bits from here:

Feedback or any errata welcomed so I can keep this up to
date.

tcptrack for Centos 5.5 32bit rpm
Hi list.
I have rebuilt tcptrack now.
You can get it from here:
http://www.karsites.net/centos/downloads/5.5/tcptrack-1.3.0-1.el5.i386.rpm
It's not signed, so to install it with yum as root user, do:
# yum localinstall --nogpgcheck tcptrack-1.3.0-1.el5.i386.rpm
in the directory you d/l it to.

Multpiple sound cards with ices client?
I was wondering is it possible to use the ices client with
more that one soundcard under Centos Linux?
I only want to stream one mono audio feed to icecast, but am
already using the Line input of my sound card for something
else, and the mic input might be far to sensitive.
TIA

I have this working great now, I'm just struggling to find an init

Multiple incremental DVD backup program?
I'm running C5.8 and want to backup a directory that is 6GB
in size.
Is there any Linux program for Centos to make this backup
over 2 x 4.4GB DVD+R disks please?
Something with a GUI like K3b would do nicely.

Keith

Centos|Windows Cross Platform File Managers
Greetings all!
Can anyone recommend a Midnight Commander like file manager
that will run on Windows Vista please? I have downloaded and
installed 2 MC's for Vista, but the actual MC user window
running under Vista is very small compared to my screens
real estate, and I cannot seem to make it fill half the
screen.
I have found Double Commander for Windows:

Icecast startup script for Centos 5.5
Thanks Keith for the pointers on icecast and ices-cc installation how-to.
I followed the instructions and completed the two installations in no time.
Once, the two programs are installed on CentOS, what's next.
Lend a guiding hand to an eager newbie. And keep those straight guidelines
coming, please.

Upgrading from 5.7 to 5.8
My box did upgrade itself automatically from the
initial 5.5 DVD installation to 5.7
How can I tell if my box has been automatically upgraded
from 5.7 to 5.8 please?
I see the CentOS-CR.repo is still in my /etc/yum.repos.d/
directory. Is that repo responsible for doing the automatic
upgrades for Centos 5.x?
Kind Regards,
Keith Roberts
