[Bridge] Misbehaving bridge...
I'm trying to bridge a wired network and a wireless network, but I'm having some trouble. No traffic seems to be passing through the bridge. When I issue a "showmacs" command to brctl, I am able to see MAC addresses from both networks. I am also able to ping both networks from the bridge machine. When I issue a "showstp" command to brctl, the wireless access

smbfs: user cannot create file
Using VMware - Host: WinXP; Guest: Linux 8.0: Following advice I received elsewhere yesterday, I modified Linux start up files (level 3) with mount -t smbfs to connect to a shared directory in WinXP. On WinXP, both the directory and the share permissions give full control to Everyone. On Linux, the both /mnt and /mnt/linuxShare have drwxrwxrwx. As root, on the Linux side I have full control in

Strange case of partial matching in .[ - possible bug / wrong documentation?
Hi all, This occurred in R-2.11.0 (WinXP). The R-help page of .[ says that: "Character indices can in some circumstances be partially matched (see pmatch) to the names or dimnames of the object being subsetted (but never for subassignment). Unlike S (Becker et al p. 358)), R has never used partial matching when extracting by [, and as from R 2.7.0 partial matching is not by default used by

Roaming Profile not found - replacement PDC
Howdy everyone: Here's an interesting one: I have joined a machine to the domain, and I log on. Then, I get a message to the effect that the user's roaming profile couldn't be [loaded or found?], and a local profile will be used instead (and actually this also fails, but is not the point of my question... I don't think). Background ========== I took my previous PDC, and

I've read too many articles and posts on "domain master browser", "computer master browser", "NT domain browser", "PDC and BDCs", etc. etc. and I've managed to confuse my shrinking brain over this. I apologize in advance if I'm posting a redundant question (I've looked thru archivers best I could) or posting to the wrong place.
