Dag mirror, yum and repomd.xml!
Hi: I have a mirror of dag repository (http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/) in my intranet which is used by other servers to install/update rpms. I installed on every remote server the rpmforge rpm, edit the /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo to fit with my intranet mirror, but when I run yum, I get this error: #yum -c rpmforge.repo search nagios Warning, could not load sqlite, falling back to

errors on multimedia guidance for x86_64
I have a fresh install of 5.4 x86_64 from a dvd .iso. All has worked well for several days, including kvm and WinXP running in a vm. Decided it was time to get the multimedia stuff up and running so I could listen to music CDs and watch DVD movies while working. I followed the guidance on the "Tips and Tricks" page for multimedia. Had no problem with the "priorities" or the

Hi Is it possible to have rpmforge for both architectures? Currently is only for 64bit, but I need some libraries 32bit (rrdtool) to install ganglia. But if I try to install rpmforge i386, I got the message: [root at kitten01 mgarcia]# rpm -ivh rpmforge-release-0.3.6-1.el5.rf.i386.rpm Preparing... ########################################### [100%] file

Issue with Perl and rpmforge - advice?
I have an old version of rkhunter installed on my CentOS 5 machine, one I got from rpmforge. In my most recent attempts to update this, I get the following errors in yum: Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package perl-AnyEvent.noarch 0:5.240-1.el5.rf set to be updated --> Processing Dependency: perl(JSON::XS) >= 2.2 for package: perl-AnyEvent --> Processing

yum does not update package list
Hello. I have been trying to add rpmforge as a repository, but yum does not seem to be updating the package lists. I tried $ yum check-updates [...] Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * base: <mirror> * epel: <mirror> * extras: <mirror> * rpmforge: mirror.ate.info * updates: <mirror> and searched for any package available there, like i3 and mpv. Rsync 3 from rpmforge
My brain must be on knots somehow. I try to install rsync 3.x, which I know is in rpmforge repo for my architecture: https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22214 http://packages.sw.be/rsync/ But yum does not find it, however I try. I have installed yum-priorities. Rpmforge is low priority. But still... yum erase rsync # erase v2.6 from base repo yum --disablerepo=\*

problem with a repo
Hello, I've got rpmforge and epel on centos 5.3. I'm trying to do an install of perl-Image-Info for spamassassin image scanning. The package was picked up in rpmforge since first, but it is failing to install because a dependency is missing. I added perl-Image-Info to rpmforge's excludepkgs line and tried to install the package again this time thinking it would pull from epel. This

rpmforge vs epel
I've been informed that rpmforge and epel do not play well together and that if I use both, epel should have the higher (lower numbered) priority. Alas I had it the other way around. rpmforge messed up my effort to get audacity. I no longer need audacity, but would like to fix the situation before some other problem crops up. Would fixing the priorities and telling yum to reinstall all the

Managing updates to non-centos packages
Hi, I'm looking for some documentation (or advice) on how to best manage a -mostly- upstream binary compatible CentOS installation. I enabled the rpmforge repository in order to install a few packages not available in base/updates/centosplus. But, now when I do a "yum check-update" yum wants to update a whole stack of packages because it's found newer versions at
