Centos 5.6 Implications of PGP53 ?
If one stays with Centos 5.x (currently on 5.6) is the
problem/enhancement/incompatibility involving PHP53 likely to be
resolved by general updates and/or the introduction of Centos 5.7 ?

Apache Changing IPtables C 5.6 via Apache
When a web site is attacked, so far by unsuccessful hackers, my error
routine adds the attackers IP address, prefixed by 'deny', to that web
site's .htaccess file. It works and the attacker, on second and
subsequent attacks, gets a 403 error response.
I want to extend the exclusion ability to every web site hosted on a
server. My preferred method is iptables. However, when

Puppet user running Apache-Passenger ?
Is there anything in the Puppet/Passenger setup process that edits httpd.conf and sets the User/Group running apache to "puppet" ?
A master I set up several months ago is configured that way.
I do not recall doing it.
But then the high voltage electroshock therapy does have its side effects :)

Centos 5.6 and httpd
A problem with httpd on 5.6
I have three Centos machines that were automatically upgraded from 5.5.
to 5.6. Everything appears to be running perfect except httpd had
stopped delivering web service on all three machines. I did a cursive
look to see if there had been a reported bug and found :
http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4796
When I changed :
chown root.apache /etc/httpd/alias/*.db

Apache server-status file not found
Hi All,
I tried enabling server-status on this one server. I used the same
server-status definition that we normally do around here. It usually works.
But this time it isn't.
What happens is that when I do a GET on server-status and the IP, it
results in a file not found error.
[root at 224432-27 apache2]# GET http://$(hostname -i)/server-status

Apache Proxy Error + Mongrel dying
Hi,
I''ve got to active project both running on the last Apache 2.2 and on
Mongrel 0.3.13.3.
One is running perfectly, the other gets (always on the same pages,
but not after each request, it seems to be random) a ProxyError every
now and then which leads to the mongrel process being called to die
and subsequently slowing down the whole web site.
I have to restart the mongrel

Anyone have any idea how soon RHEL and CentOS will be releasing the patch

(DoS) tool is circulating that exploits a bug in the program.
The tool, called "Apache Killer," showed up last Friday in a post to the
