mdadm raid 1 question
Does Centos 4.2 have the grub issue where the boot loader does not get
installed onto both hard disks in a software Raid 1 environment?
if so does 4.3 solve that issue?

I have a broadcom bcm5722 and a dual intel pro/1000 pt nic in a dell
t110. The setup sees the cards and i put them into automatic mode.
After the install no cards are detected at all. Astaro 8.01 detects and
utilizes all of these cards just fine. I have also tried ubuntu server
10.04 lts and they work fine. I'm curious if this is a bug with Centos 6?

mdraid strange surprises...
Hey,
I installed 2 new data servers with a big (12TB) RAID6 mdraid.
I formated the whole arrays with bad blocks checks.
One server is moderately used (nfs on one md), while the other not.
One week later, after the raid-check from cron, I get on both servers
a few block_mismatch... 1976162368 on the used one and a tiny bit less
on the other...? That seems a tiny little bit high...
I do the

force 10 megabit full duplex
I figured out how to force 10 megabit full duplex on my ethernet
interface. The trick is i need it to stick in case of a reboot so i
don't have to reforce it. I have not been able to figure that one out
yet. I have not found it in the man's or google yet. If someone could
point me in the right direction i would be much obliged.

different iso's
I am wondering if there are any plans to release a large dvd iso
of the centos distribution? dvd burners are taking off and this
would be a good addition. Instead of three cd iso's one big dvd iso.

mdadm size issues
Hi,
I am trying to create a 10 drive raid6 array. OS is Centos 5.3 (64 Bit)
All 10 drives are 2T in size.
device sd{a,b,c,d,e,f} are on my motherboard
device sd{i,j,k,l} are on a pci express areca card (relevant lspci info below)
#lspci

The controller is set to JBOD the drives.

virtualizing Windows in Cetnos
Here is what i am looking to do. i have a server SBS 2k3 machine. I
want to load linux on it then virtualize the SBS server inside the linux
installation. I would then be able to compress backup just the sbs
virtual file instead of screwing with the backup programs inside of
windows(even symantec's and yosemitie's stuff leaves much to be
desired). What are my options both free and

Raid issue
I am curious about something. I have a friend that made a software raid
1 partition across a 250 gig 7200 rpm drive and an 80 gig 7200 rpm hard
disk drive. he shut the system down normally to clean it out and when
it came back up he gets the following:
a superblock on /dev/md0 failed
would mdadm --assemble --force fix it or lead to more damage?

I am googgling right now but am unable to find a simpler
description of how to get logrotate to do what i want it to do.
I have a cs 1.6 server that generates quite a bit of logs. That
log generation is going to increase significantly with one of my
plugins i am going to be installing(logD and the impressive
plugin). I want to tell logrotate to daily rotate all the logs

btrfs and mdadm raid 6
Hi. I''m considering an imminent switch from ext4 to btrfs and I''m hoping that someone can lend me advice before I do something unsupported.
I have a software raid 6 array configured via mdadm. It was sitting at 8 x 3TB until I recently doubled that, grew the array and found that ext4 doesn''t want to resize. So, I''m looking to:
1. convert from ext4 to btrfs

C7 and mdadm
A user's system had a hard drive failure over the weekend. Linux RAID 6. I
identified the drive, brought the system down (8 drives, and I didn't know
the s/n of the bad one. why it was there in the box, rather than where I
started looking...) Brought it up, RAID not working. I finally found that
I had to do an mdadm --stop /dev/md0, then I could do an assemble, then I
could add the new

FWIW, what I've done in the past is build the raid 6's with mdraid, then
use LVM to stripe them

mdadm vs raidcheck
Hi all!
I don't religiously follow everything that pops up in the selinux
alerts, but now and then I go back and look at some of them.
(I'm on an up to date Centos-7).
Today I noted an error that seems to occur during a weekly raid check,
from /etc/cron.d.
the selinux alert is:
SELinux is preventing /usr/sbin/mdadm from write access on the file /var/log/rear/rear-fcshome.log.lockless.

mdadm and drive identification?
I have a server that has 16 drives in it. They are connected to a 3ware 9650SE-16ML SATA RAID card. I have the card set to export all the drives as JBOD because I prefer Linux to do the reporting of drive and RAID health . I'm using mdadm to create a RAID6 with a hot spare. Doing this I can take the disks and put them on a completely different SATA controller/computer and still have the RAID

mdadm: hot remove failed for /dev/sdg: Device or resource busy
Hello all,
I have run into a sticky problem with a failed device in an md array,
and I asked about it on the linux raid mailing list, but since the
problem may not be md-specific, I am hoping to find some insight here.
(If you are on the MD list, and are seeing this twice, I humbly
apologize.)
The summary is that during a reshape of a raid6 on an up to date CentOS
6.3 box, one disk failed, and
