failure building memcached rpm
Hi all,
I need to install the latest memcached version (1.4.20) on a number of
machines in this environment. There are only rpm's of this app for RHEL 6.
But we need to install the latest memcached on a number of RHEL 5 machines.
To be specific, they are OEL 5.7 hosts.
I've installed all of the developers tools that I would need.
But when I go to build the RPM I am getting the

trouble building an rpm
i'm a newbie at building rpms. I made a few rpms years ago, but can't now make one on Centos 5.
In /usr/local/rpmbuild, there are 5 subdirs: BUILD RPMS SOURCES SPECS SRPMS tmp
When I type: rpmbuild -ba /usr/local/rpmbuild/SPECS/centos-release-cr-ihc.spec
I get 'file not found' errors, for paths in /usr/local/rpmbuild/tmp:

error building php spec file
Hi.
Which CentOS version you using?
If it is CentOS 6 then instead of building it from source, you can use IUS
repo which has latest php packages.
Below is the link for the packages in IUS repo for CentOS 6.

If you have set up an RPM build server then you should have installed
the rpmbuild and rpmdevtools packages. If you have installed the

Ruby RRDtool bindings and CentOS 5
For whatever reason, the RPMForge package ruby-rrdtool doesn''t play
nice on my CentOS 5.1 box with puppetmaster. It installs
site_ruby/1.8/i386-linux/RRD.so, which puppetmaster is unable to find
(and the suggested test of ruby -rRRDtool -e ''puts :yep'' fails).
Using ln to link RRD.so to RRDtool.so works for the command line test,
but still fails for puppetmaster. This

[LLVMdev] Fedora Core 5 package
The rpm target was added after 1.8 was released so I guess you're not
using CVS version. I also made several changes to the spec file which
you might be interested in. The current version is attached.

mock and iaxmodem
I am trying to build an rpm package for iaxmodem-1.2.0. At the
moment I am still trying to get a working spec file put together. I
have managed to get an SRPM produced but the binary build from this
fails due to there being no install task in the Makefile.in provided
with the source.
I have found a spec file from opensuse that provides this in the
install portion:

help with spec file
I am attempting to learn how to build my own rpms. I found a good
tutorial online but it is a bit out of date (2007). Here it is:
http://www.rpm-based.org/how-to-create-rpm-package
At any rate, the package it uses is of course old and I found a newer
version of one to test with. The tutorial uses a program called
'subtitleeditor' which when it was written was at version
0.20.0alpha4. The

Trying to build custom Python 2.4.4 RPM
I'm trying to build a custom RPM with a standalone Python 2.4.4 in the /opt
directory to keep it isolated from the stock version of Python in CentOS
4.4. The end goal is to use it in conjunction with yet-to-be-built RPMS of
the current versions of Zope and Plone.
The spec file I've constructed allows me to build a RPM successfully, but
when I try to install the RPM, it complains:

RPM Build Question

I have just started building my own RPMS on both Fedora and CentOS and
generally things have gone well. Currently I am trying to create RPMS
for some commercial software that we have purchased.
Step 1 was install the software using its JAVA Based installer
ensuring that all files were installed into a particular directory in
/usr/local.

To to build an RPM from the nut 2.0.3 source I've corrected the old
