ffmpeg
This is annoying. I've been trying to get motion working correctly on CentOS 6. First, there was no ffmpeg rpms. Now, I try to install it, and it's found on rpmfusion... except that it will not install. It insists that libfaad.so.0 is required, and tells me faad2-libs-2.6.1-5 from el5 is available. (I've done some stuff with my repos to try to get what I need for motion.) I installed

errors on multimedia guidance for x86_64
I have a fresh install of 5.4 x86_64 from a dvd .iso. All has worked well for several days, including kvm and WinXP running in a vm. Decided it was time to get the multimedia stuff up and running so I could listen to music CDs and watch DVD movies while working. I followed the guidance on the "Tips and Tricks" page for multimedia. Had no problem with the "priorities" or the

Hi, and thank to you all for this great codec ! I have this bug on Debian Lenny with compiled packages of last svn versions of ffmpeg and libtheora. This seems to append only on the amd64 arch. .GSM -> .WAV (or ,MP3) Conversion
Hey there, I'm trying to convert some call recordings from asterisk we have in .gsm format to something I can pipe through ffmpeg - wav would be good, mp3 would be amazing! I've been trying playing with sox but I don't seem to be getting too far with 1239101491.30.gsm -ql -r 64000 -t wav 1239101491.30.conv.wav resample as ffmpeg borks at it: tim at freee-meee:~/dmc/call

How to install libquicktime on CentOS 7 in one (or two) line of command?
Hi, For some reason, I need support of QuickTime on my CentOS 7. So I searched the internet and found that something called "|libquicktime|" can provide that support. So I download the rpm file from http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libquicktime%28x86-64%29. Then I ran command "|rpm -i libquicktime-1.2.4-31.el7.x86_64.rpm|" and got the following errors:

ADMIN issue - manitu
I've been blocked twice this morning, and removed myself once - the first time, by the time I got to work and looked at the list, it was already gone. My hosting provider works with those jerks at manitu. I've ranted a number of times over the years at why their method is a *lousy* method for blocking spam in the second decade of the 21st century. Now this: here's another argument as

drop manitu.net
listadmin, Can you PLEASE, PLEASE find *any* other blacklist than manitu? This asshole's method was ok a dozen years ago; these days, with hosting sites hosting tens or hundreds of thousands of domains, with too many running Windows, and so infected and sending out spam. They then send all mail via one mailhost, with the result that those of us with *no* spam coming out are frequently

dnsbl feature for dovecot
dnsbl's are a popular method to prevent listed ips from making connections to mta software. cf. postscreen_dnsbl_sites in postfix Would it be possible to introduce such a feature in dovecot, so that connections can be denied based on a dnsbl lookup (where the precise dnsbls used are configurable)? RFE: dnsbl-support for dovecot
after having my own dnsbl feeded by a honeypot and even mod_security supports it for webservers i think dovecot sould support the same to prevent dictionary attacks from known bad hosts, in our case that blacklist is 100% trustable and blocks before SMTP-Auth while normal RBL's are after SASL i admit that i am not a C/C++-programmer, but i think doing the DNS request and in case it has a

problems streaming theora with oggfwd and icecast2
Hi guys , I used ffmpeg , and ffmpeg2theora , with oggfwd for streaming to the icecast2 streaming server without any problems. But now , only works if I use ffmpeg2theora. I try with one of the latest svn version and one that I consider " stable" because is ok for all my needs , and they don't work. This is the complete shell output ffmpeg -i /home/pierpaolo/Scrivania/31.mpg

OT: RepoForge/RPMForge State Survey
Hello, RepoForge used to be one of the important repositories for CentOS/RHEL. I know that RepoForge is considered to be clinically dead nowadays. On the other hand RepoForge is still physically alive. We would like to harness community opinion on RepoForge status and future. In case that you use or used to use the RepoForge I kindly ask you to fill up this form to help us with the decision.

5.5 & gspca
Irritating quirkyness: we have a bunch of videocams. To use, we use gspca. Usually, on an upgrade, I just go into the gspca directory (which appears, from their website, to have not been updated since '07), make clean, make, make install. Having gone up to 5.5, did the same. What's happening now is that it works, delivers the mpgs... but dumps errors in the logs: <snip> kernel:

v4l
Hi, folks. Ever since we brought some of our servers up to 6.x, where the gspca module comes with the kernel, instead of us building it, we've been seeing problems. One system gives very strange loops - someone walks through, then repeat a few times, then the next motion, etc. The current problem is that one camera went out on a different server (it's 6.2, and I'm hoping to bring

Transcode from AAC to MP3 (or vice versa)
Hi To continue the interesting streamTranscode thread but in a slightly different direction, I have a user station that would like to send us a 64kbps AAC stream and have us transcode that to 64kbps MP3 and 32kbps AAC - is this possible? Points to consider: a) we would be happy to go with another permutation such as: she sends us 64kbps MP3 and we convert that to 64kbps AAC and 32kbps ACC. b)
