Desperate: problems with fonts, I can not make it work
I am trying to make wine run with a couple of windows applications and there is no way I can get normal fonts. All I get is little squares instead. I have set up a directory /home/username/.wine/fake_windows/Fonts that has quite a few .ttf files that I got from my Windows98 partition. I have also set up chkfontpath to the right path (please see attached files). Then what can be wrong? I

tomcat5 from jpackage 1.6 on cento4 w/ java-1.4.2-sun-1.4.2.08-1jpp
Is anyone running tomcat5 from jpackage 1.6 on cento4 w/ java-1.4.2- sun-1.4.2.08-1jpp ? I'm getting weird dependencies which don't make sense, notably: Error: Missing Dependency: jdk = 2000:1.5.0_02-fcs is needed by package java-1.5.0-sun-compat I want to use 1.4.2 not 1.5 and it doesn't make sense to have jdk = 2000:1.5.0_02-fcs, unless I'm missing something? I do have

Is there any documentation telling you whether tomcat5 was compiled against the 1.4.2 tree or the 1.5? You could try downloading the srpm, patching it to use the 1.4.2 java and then re-create your own rpm. Just a thought, might be an easier way though; will wait for the experts response. -----Original Message----- From: centos-bounces at centos.org [mailto:centos-bounces at centos.org] On

using Arial font
To whom it may concern, I am e-mailing you concerning the use of Arial Font in the program R and I am using a mac. I am trying to create graphs in R and the publisher I wish to publish an article with needs the font to be Arial. I have tried looking around to find out how to do this with no luck and must help on the topic is geared towards Linux users - the only help available is from the PLoS

Using Arial font in linux
Hi, Late last year there was a thread on r-help about installing Arial fonts on linux machines: http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02/archive/8548.html I too would like to use Arial fonts in some R plots created on my redhat machine. I've installed the TrueType fonts from http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/ -- there is now a directory /usr/share/fonts/msttcorefonts/ and xlsfonts reports

Truetype fonts
I am trying to install on a CentOS5 box http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/files/msttcorefonts-2.0-1.noarch.rpm then did an xfs restart, even an alt-ctrl-backspace. The fonts are located in /usr/share/fonts/msttcorefonts/ with the owner root & 644. I can't see them when I go to preferences > fonts. I have another computer with CentOS5, the fonts are installed and I can use them w/o

Requesting help with lattice again
Hello, this is a request for assistance that I submitted earlier, this time with the dataset. My mistake for taking up bandwidth. I've also rephrased the question to address an additional concern. I'm working on a windows XP machine with R 2.8.1 1). I'd like a barchart (or other lattice type display) HSI ~ of the three factors (Region, Scenario and HydroState). However

Lucida Sans Unicode
Is there an easy workaround for not having the Lucida Sans Unicode font under Wine? Can this lack of what is standard (at least for WinXP I think) be considered a bug? (if so, I will start a new bug # for it).

X11 fonts cannot be loaded - SuSE Linux solution
Dear list, I would like to make a comment how to solve the X11 font problem under SuSE Linux (9.0) when you get the message: "X11 font at size 16 could not be loaded". After having modified /etc/X11/XF86config as root (see below) you have to run 'SuSEconfig' as root as well else nothing might be changed in the X-Server. After that no further messages should appear. HTH,

PLoS, Arial, R & linux
Greetings All. According to the PLoS (Public Library of Science) Guidelines for Figure preparation, if a figure is submitted as EPS rather than TIFF then "Figure text must be in Arial font" -- see: [1] http://www.plosntds.org/static/figureGuidelines.action#text and also other sections in that web-page [2] http://www.plosntds.org/static/figureGuidelines.action Now, Arial font is not

I am trying to a install Centos 5.1 32-bit Xen HVM DomU onto a Centos 5.1 64bit DomU with the default xen installed and the kickstart hangs at random points during the install process. Sometimes retrieving the image, sometimes formatting the filesystem, sometimes installing the packages, etc. I tried upgrading to xen 3.2 and encounter the same problem before rebuilding back to stock Centos 5.1

Set font and size in xterm
I have a situation where gnome console does not handle vt102 escape sequences properly and therefor need to employ xterm instead. When I run xterm from a gnome terminal window I am presented with an extremely small terminal window employing an almost unreadably small font. I have attempted to set the font size using xrdb and a custom .Xresources file. I can change the colour scheme. I can

Weird font in Firefox
Has anyone else had an issue with the font in Firefox? In particular, the font up on the toolbar, buttons, and any text that you type in on a website? I recently installed Firefox (mostly so I can access pages that require the most recent version of Flash) and I get an italicized font with a clear line through the middle of it in the locations I mentioned. It's readable, but just barely.

Problem with a program called winbox
This winbox application is one that I use to manage routers for myself and my customers, so it is unlikely that there are many others trying to use it. I have used this program (through several versions of the program itself) on my Fedora laptop from FC8 all the way to Fedora 14. I don't know what wine versions that spans, but it's over 5 years and it has worked flawlessly. When I first
