5.0--> 5.1 lm_sensors "General Parse Error"
Problem and solution, not sure if correct After upgrading to 5.1 and restarting, lm_sensors complained "General Parse Error." Google pointed here: http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/Devices Where I found this under "SENSOR CHIP DRIVERS - STATUS" AMD --> "Since Kernel 2.6.19" Latest AMD K8 processors have integrated sensors which can be read directly without any

LM_SENSORS
Sorry if this has been around many times before, but I've done quite a bit of reading and searching for some type of human readable guide for setting up the lm_sensors for hardware monitoring. I've dorked around with the stuff in the system here, but after looking at the /etc/sensors.conf, I don't think I want to delve into that and try to pull out the right group of settings.

lm_sensors on Sun (x86) Hardware
Hey folks, I'm running RHEL 5.3 on 6 boxes - and on every one of them sensors-detect finds nothing. 5 of them are Sun fire 2250 machines, and 1 is Sunfire 4170. Googling and searching this list does not seem to find anything. When I log into the Sun hardware management interface (web interface) I see that it of course is correctly detecting various temperatures of things. But for some

Overheating on laptop as compared to RHEL
Hi, I have an acer 5738g laptop on which i tried out the centos6.4 live CD. The laptop feels noticable hotter and i check the temperature using something like cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/. The temperatures are around 57-60 degrees when the laptop is just idling, ie, just the desktop and the terminal window open. I install lm_sensors using yum and it installs successfully, but there is no

lm_sensors on CentOS 4.5
hello, I have problem to install lm_sensors on CentOS 4.5 (Linux 2.6.9-42.ELsmp). I am getting error message "FATAL: Module bmcsensors not found." after I enter "modprobe bmcsensors". I got advice to install http://bmcsensors-26.sourceforge.net/ into my kernel, but I don't know how to do it. Does somebody has experience how to get lm-sensors working on CentOS 4.5 ?

Hardware monitoring for Intel Atom D945GCLF.
Hi, Is there a way to make use of hardware monitoring on Intel 945GCLF (with Atom 230 cpu)? It is relatively new child of Intel, but maybe someone figured it out yet. pciconf -lv shows this: ichsmb0@pci0:0:31:3: class=0x0c0500 card=0x464c8086 chip=0x27da8086 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus

Supermicro X6DH8-G2+ / sensors not working
Hello, I'm having problems with lm_sensors on the motherboard Supermicro X6DH8-G2+ sensors-detect gives me the output attached in the textfile sensors-detect-output.txt As soon as I execute the recommended 'modprobe smbus-arp' I receive the following message: FATAL: Module smbus_arp not found. When I execute sensors, I receive the following:

CentOS 7 + Dell Latitude E6420 laptop = thermal shutdown
Hi, Thanks for reading this. I installed CentOS 7 (tried the latest ISO image and the previous build) on the laptop and got to the point where I am logging into the desktop environment and the laptop just shuts down. I check the event log in BIOS and find that a thermal event has occurred and the system powered off to prevent damage. I can take the same laptop with Windows 7 installed and run

Sensors for Supermicro H8QCE
CentOS Guru's, I am trying to get supermicro's superodoctorII to spit out some numbers for CPU temps but I am failing. It appears I need a module i2c-piix4 but it is not available in the kernel. Trusty old lm_sensors won't seem to work with this darn board. Any hints would be mucho appreciated. Rik

Fan speed control on Supermicro X8DAL board with CentOS
Hello folks, I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out why the CPU cooling fans run at full speed on my Supermicro X8DAL-3 motherboard. There doesn't seem to be any variable speed (the fans are PWM compatible) ... they either idle at almost nothing, or suddenly burst into a high-pitched scream that gets my ears bleeding after a few seconds. Once they jump to warp-10, they

lm_sensors and Shuttle
Hi All, I'm trying to get lm_sensors to work on a Shuttle with an AMD K10. The version of lm_sensors in the main CentOS repo is 2.10.7, which is two years old now. Support for the K10 was added about a year ago. So, does anyone know if there are binaries available for more recent versions of lm_sensors? Also, if anyone has knowledge of the sensors layout for recent Shuttle AMD motherboards,

rebuilding kernel modules issues
I have a Tyan S3870 (K855A) motherboard which I would like to perform a burn in test with. lm_sensors needs a kernel module compiled to be support this motherboard's sensors. The instructions, for compiling the module, by tyan (ftp://ftp.tyan.com/software/lms/3870.sensors.conf) match closely with the instructions I found here (http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_compilation_centos). CPU temperature?
Has anyone gotten lm_sensors to work on a CentOS3.3/RHEL3 box? I think I'm having CPU temperature-related problems, and wanted some way to monitor it. I believe lm_sensors does this, but can't seem to figure out how to get it to work. I already did "yum install lm_sensors" but when I run sensors-detect, it complains: Couldn't open /proc/bus/i2c?!? at /usr/sbin/sensors-detect
