Wireless Problem - no longer able to connect
Hi all, When I first loaded C6 on my Dell Inspiron laptop the wireless worked flawlessly right out of the box. At the time the wireless access point was a Linksys WAP54G using WPA-2 Personal. In the last two weeks that Access point has been replaced with a Linksys WAP610N, also using WPA-2 Peronal. The problem I'm having is the wireless adapter sees the new WAP just fine, but is unable

CentOS 6 supported hardware
Has anyone seen a supported hardware list on CentOS 6? I've been looking around for the last few days; even looked at RedHat's site but didn't find one. I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501 with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini-card in it and I'm trying to find out if it's going to have native driver support for the WIFI. thanks, -- Mark Weaver Computer Information Systems

Updates... What? already?
Just had a good laugh. I'm sitting here at my desk working with my laptop sitting off to the side; I've just loaded C6 this morning and as I understand it C6 _just_ finished syncing on the mirrors over the weekend. I look up from an email I'm composing to see the updates alert being displayed. I won't repeat what first entered my head, but I couldn't help but laugh and think,

Howto create a VPN connection on desktop (CentOS 6)
Hi List, I'd like to be able to create VPN connections on my laptop to connect to client locations and I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for this information. I've checked on the wiki, but didn't find anything. Info appreciated... -- Mark Weaver Computer Information Systems& Services, Inc. mweaver at compinfosystems.com (717) 512-9718

Error: Permission denied, please try again.
Greetings: I hope it is okay to post this here. I have RedHat 6.1 on Intel. I believe I followed the instructions correctly. Everything seemed to compile without errors but when I try to log in I get the above error - any advice? I've poked through the FAQ and man pages with no luck. Thanks for any and all replies, Mike [root at ghana openssh-2.1.0]# ssh -v -l mweaver ghana SSH Version

Using Apache 2.2 config files on Apache 2.4
Hello List, I'm in the process of migrating LAMP servers. I've got a C5 LAMP server in my rack that has been running faithfully without complaint for the past 9 years. In some ways I really hate to move out of it, but there are things to get done, things to consider and reasons that make the migration necessary. I've got a C7 server loaded and the basic configuration partially

Lenovo Ideapad 320 touchpad not recognized
I'm setting up a new Lenovo Ideapad 320 and everything shows up and works fine except for the touchpad. I did have to get into the bios and set Legacy for boot device and boot mode to get Centos 7 to finish installing. The default bios settings would load the Centos 7 Gnome Live image from a usb flash drive and work (except for the touchpad) but when I tried to install to the hard drive it

touchpad stopped working in KDE only
I just installed CentOS 7 on a ThinkPad T420s. All went well. Touchpad worked fine at login screen, in Gnome, and in KDE. KDE is my preferred environment, so I began customizing - including configuring the touchpad to accept "Tapping" gestures via System Settings, Input Devices, Touchpad. As soon as I hit "apply", the touchpad stopped responding to cursor movements. The

Slightly OT: Generators & UPS
Hi, Can anyone shed some light on this: My PC's are on a separate power circuit. Each PC has its own UPS. I have an old Honda generator. When the power goes out, I fire up the generator. However, the UPS's still run on battery. If I connect the PC directly to the socket and bypass the UPS, the PC works. I was told by a UPS supplier, that the power output from the generator was

No Package Manager? (Where's YumEx)
Hi List, This morning while setting up C6 on my laptop this morning I attempted to download and install Yumex, but the repos returned no results for this package. Has this been discontinued and if so, what package manager should I be looking for? thanks, Mark

Touchpad doesn't work with C6, kernel-related...
Hi folks! :-) I have a Fujitsu Lifebook U series laptop running updated CentOS 6.4 (64bit), and the touchpad doesn't work. It's a new laptop, the touchpad works correctly in Fedora 18 Live (given the kernel parameters below), no hardware problems. I searched the web all around, and it's a known issue for several laptop models. The only solution, quoted everywhere, it is to append the

touchpad problem
Hi all! I have a new-to-me (i.e., used) laptop and am having a problem making the touchpad behave. It is an old HP Elitebook 8530p, and I THINK it has a synaptics touchpad. But I don't remember how to get more specifics than that on Linux, lspci, lsusb and lshw don't tell me anything helpful. lsmod doesn't list anything containing "syn" or "synaptics". Anyway,

CentOS4 laptop touchpad erratic operation
I've just put up CentOS4 on my HP ze4630us laptop, and the installation produced only two problems of note, both related to X operations. 1. The installer refused to allow 1024x768 resoultion for the screen. After install, manually setting the resolution in xorg.conf was no problem. 2. Erratic touchpad operation. This unit has a synaptic touchpad. I've also noted similar problems on my
