Changing from RHEL to CentOS
I have a RHEL system and I'm thinking of changing to CentOW. How can this be done most easily. It is important that the e-mail setup not be disturbed, since it was crafted to work with an IP that requires authentication. Thanks, -- John J. High memory needs [SOLVED]
I finally found a solution to our problem. I think some people running like us a combination CentOS 64 bits\Sun Grid Engine, could encounter the same situation. Here is a detailed explanation, hope it can be useful to someone! The file /usr/lib/locale/locale-archive is a memory-mapped file used by glibc (the gnu C library). This file contains the languages used over the system (for instance, man

PoE - IEEE 802.3af
Hi, I'm not clear on how to use Power--over-Ethernet, specifically with Polycom phones. What I understand, is that by buying the Polycom 501 with the 802.3af cable bundle, I simply connect my phone, through the Polycom provided "special" RJ-45 cable, into a PoE capable switch, and voil?! Is this true? And if so, what happens when the Phone doesn't connect directly to the

Winbind backend : rid is too much underappreciated
I just came to the conclusion that the rid backend has been very much underappreciated. Too much mental inertia about how things used to be made? After strugling for two days to configure a member server against a Samba Active Directory with the ad/RFC2307 backend, I turned to the rid backend and voil?! all my problems are gone. Having to manually edit uids/gids in UNIX Attributes under RSAT

Re: Is 1.2.12.1 production ready (Mauro Zanin)
Hi Everybody, as far as I see, I installed 1.2.12.1 on a 1.2.0 box. Everything ran OK, but VoiceMail application stated that there were no entries in voicemail.conf, so it didn't work. Installed again 1.2.0 and voil? the VoiceMail app. was working again. I asked to the group, but it seems I'm the only one with this issue! In Italy we say: "Chi lascia la via vecchia per la nuova, sa

Info to upstream centos mirror: file centos/7.0.1406/os/x86_64/LiveOS/squashfs.img IS CORRUPT !
Hello, i've been struggling hard to setup our automated PXE/kickstart system using various local mirrors but it alway hung after partitioning with no further exception. When I encountered squshfs errors on the Console (text based / kickstart installation) I re-synced (rsync) with CERN mirror afterwards with switch.ch mirror and fh-esslingen - But the squashfs image remained corrupt. Raspberry as AD Server
Hi, i have a working Samba AD with 2 DCs based on Version 4.15.7-Debian and Debian 10. The main Problem was Lack of Win 11 Support (beginning with a certain update) So the goal was to switch to backports and samba Version 4.17.9-Debian. But this does not work on 32bit Pi OS. So i tested this weekend the following combination: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2 Linux sdc01 6.1.21-v8+

RHEL 6 <-> CentOS 6 ?
Hi ! We are curently deploying an 8 nodes cluster where we have a RHEL 6 license at great costs (~14 k$/y). It will be our new production environment for mission-critical services. Now our aging developpement server (old p4 with 1.5 gig of ram) need to be updated. We will be installing on hardware as close as possible to the new production servers, just not in a rack... Clustering large data matrix
Hello, I have a large data matrix (68x13112), each row corresponding to one observation (patients) and each column corresponding to the variables (points within an NMR spectrum). I would like to carry out some kind of clustering on these data to see how many clusters are there. I have tried the function clara() from the package cluster. If I use the matrix as is, I can perform the clara

Dovecot 2.0b3: mdbox with incorrect ACL file permissions crashes
Hi, played around with 'mdbox' format some more. Converted my personal mailbox with latest Dovecot and dsync from HG: dsync convert -u login at yourdomain.com mdbox:~/mdbox One thing I noticed is, that dsync does not take care of existing 'dovecot-acl' files, which it should migrate/copy from my point of view, but simply skips them. Anyway I copied over the ACLs manually and

Create a time interval from a single time variable
I am trying to set up a data set for a survival analysis with time-varying covariates. The data is already in a long format, but does not have a variable to signify the stopping point for the interval. The variable DaysEnrolled is the variable I would like to use to form this interval. Comparing output from linear regression to output from quasipoisson to determine the model that fits best.
R 2.7 Windows XP I have two model that have been run using exactly the same data, both fit using glm(). One model is a linear regression (gaussian(link = "identity")) the other a quasipoisson(link = "log"). I have log likelihoods from each model. Is there any way I can determine which model is a better fit to the data? anova() does not appear to work as the models have the

5.6 is out, great my first upgrade didn't work...
5.6 is out. That is good news. I did a yum update on one of my non-critical server, and the server stoped responding to ping after the reboot, and never answered back. It's now been 10 minutes, so I'll have to take a ride to the colo... Nice work dev team, keep up the good work. Let's hope that C6 will come soon ! I'm eager to upgrade.
