-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi All, I'm giving serious thought to loading 5.1 on my Inspiron 1501 laptop, but I'm wondering about certain hardware support such as the following: - - Broadcom Wireless Adapter - 1390 Wlan (bcm43xx) - - USB (Pny Memory Stick - everytime on previous version CentOS has eaten the damned things) - - pptp vpn client(s) Any comments? thanks,

Turning Wireless Radio on and off: how?
Hi all, I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501 with a Broadcom 1390 Wlan mini card (integrated) wireless lan chipset. I've got an init script setup to activate the wireless connection at boot time, however when the system boots the adapter doesn't connect. I'm not able to get a connection until after the desktop is done loading and I run the script from the command line. After some

Kernel Panic with wl.ko (Broadcom wireless driver) [CentOS 5.4]
Been experimenting with CentOS 5.4 some more. In order to get my wireless card to work (Broadcom BCM4311) I need Broadcom's wl.ko driver (http:// www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php). It compiles fine after the necessary modification in typedef.h, loads and wireless works. However, as soon as I put some load on that interface (scp something from another machine, download

Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility - mini-pci wireless card 1390
Is there any way I can find a driver and/or get the above wireless card working in CentOS 5 on my Dell laptop (Inspiron 1501). I've installed ipw2200 from RPMForge, but it now appears that this won't work because the card is not an Intel PRO/Wireless card. Dell seem to support only MS Windows Vista now so I don't think there's much chance of getting a driver from them - so am I on

Problems with Broadcom 4312 wireless
Hello David, In brief, I've solved this problem on my Dell Inspiron 1525 (with Broadcom 4312 wireless card), so I figured letting You know would be nice, 'cause it didn't seem like the issue is resolved. Visit this link: http://jomcode.com/fadhil/?p=59 and in addition check out the comment on the same page by Andre Kiepe to have the modules load on boot. Best Regards, Milos.

It was worth the wait!
WOW!!! I'm actually stunned. I was expecting some changes, but this is wonderful and EVERYTHING worked correctly right out of the box. Having a few small issues with my touchpad on this Dell Inspiron - can't get it to scroll - but everything else is exquisite! Thank you SO much for all your hard work CentOS team. -- Mark Weaver Computer Information Systems & Services, Inc. mweaver

CentOS 7 on Dell Inspiron with ATI Radeon HD 6320 video card
Hi, I'm currently installing CentOS 7 on a client's Dell Inspiron laptop. Here's the video card: # lspci | grep -i vga 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Wrestler [Radeon HD 6320] Most of the time, I either have to deal with Intel or NVidia graphic chipsets. As far as I understand, I can choose either the free 'radeon' driver or the

Broadcom wireless card: installation script for Linux-STA driver
Hi, I just installed CentOS 6.6 on my HP Pavilion DM1 laptop. The wireless card is only poorly supported in the default setup, so I decided to write an installation script for the Linux-STA driver, which works perfectly. https://github.com/kikinovak/centos/blob/master/6.x/broadcom-sta/broadcom-sta.sh Grab the files: # git clone https://github.com/kikinovak/centos Run the script: # cd

n00b question: Will xVM work on my hardware?
Hi folks. This is probably a dumb question, but i''m not sure where to start. I have snv_80 running and booting into xVM with no problems. I am wondering if my hardware supports running Windows Vista in a virtual machine? I have a Dell Precision M6300 In particular, I''m wondering if my graphics card and wired/wireless NIC are going to work? Vid card: Nvidia Quadro M1600 wired

CentOS on Dell Inspiron 640m laptop
I ordered and just received today a new Dell Inspiron 640m laptop (it also goes by the name E1405). Anyone tried installing CentOS on this laptop? It's the wireless drivers I'm most concerned about; it's got the Dell 1390 internal wireless card (not the Intel wireless). Anyone have some feedback, on the wireless or any other issues, on running CentOS on this laptop? Thanks Paul

Wireless Problem - no longer able to connect
Hi all, When I first loaded C6 on my Dell Inspiron laptop the wireless worked flawlessly right out of the box. At the time the wireless access point was a Linksys WAP54G using WPA-2 Personal. In the last two weeks that Access point has been replaced with a Linksys WAP610N, also using WPA-2 Peronal. The problem I'm having is the wireless adapter sees the new WAP just fine, but is unable

Networking issue, C6.2 LiveDVD x86_64
Good afternoon, CentOS list. I am beginning triage of a rather wierd issue I experienced Saturday with CentOS 6.2 LiveDVD, x86_64. I'm posting this information in hope that someone may have seen something similar. I use a USB key with CentOS 6.2 LiveDVD loaded, with an encrypted home filesystem, built using the instructions on the CentOS wiki for a LiveUSB build, and it was built by a

Using Apache 2.2 config files on Apache 2.4
Hello List, I'm in the process of migrating LAMP servers. I've got a C5 LAMP server in my rack that has been running faithfully without complaint for the past 9 years. In some ways I really hate to move out of it, but there are things to get done, things to consider and reasons that make the migration necessary. I've got a C7 server loaded and the basic configuration partially

conflicts in updating to CR repo
Note, first of all I haven't actually updated, I'm just running "yum update" to see what conflicts, if any, I get so I can be prepared when the final 7.7 release happens. I've traditionally used the nvidia packages from elrepo, but recently enabled rpmfusion (back when I started using 7.x, I disabled rpmfusion because it took them a looooong time to get a EL7 repository up).

ffmpeg
This is annoying. I've been trying to get motion working correctly on CentOS 6. First, there was no ffmpeg rpms. Now, I try to install it, and it's found on rpmfusion... except that it will not install. It insists that libfaad.so.0 is required, and tells me faad2-libs-2.6.1-5 from el5 is available. (I've done some stuff with my repos to try to get what I need for motion.) I installed

Wireless newtworking in CentOS 5
Installed CentOS 5 on my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop, hoping that it will be easier to set up wireless networking than it was in CentOS 4.4. But still sooooo difficult to get it working, mainly because there doesn't appear to be a driver pre-installed for this wireless card ((Dell wireless 1390 Mini PCI network card 802.11b/g). Do I still have to use ipw2200 and what is this anyway? - I really
