perl-Sys-Filesystem on 6.0
I'm trying to install a number of perl modules, and yum gives up with perl-Sys-Filesystem, because it has a dependency of perl(:MODULE_COMPAT_5.8.8) I've tried seeing what provides it, and yum says nothing. I also see, googling, that there was a problem thread on this list in '08 with the same dependency. Anyone have a clue, or workaround? mark

Issue with Perl and rpmforge - advice?
I have an old version of rkhunter installed on my CentOS 5 machine, one I got from rpmforge. In my most recent attempts to update this, I get the following errors in yum: Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package perl-AnyEvent.noarch 0:5.240-1.el5.rf set to be updated --> Processing Dependency: perl(JSON::XS) >= 2.2 for package: perl-AnyEvent --> Processing

looking for a package
I'm trying to update a workstation, and it wants to update mpeg2-utils. But that has a dependency of libmpeg2-0.5.1-3, for i386. epel doesn't have it, and I tried looking on rpmfusion.org, and I can only find a very few packages there. Anyone have an idea which of the regular repositories carries libmpeg2? mark

ffmpeg
This is annoying. I've been trying to get motion working correctly on CentOS 6. First, there was no ffmpeg rpms. Now, I try to install it, and it's found on rpmfusion... except that it will not install. It insists that libfaad.so.0 is required, and tells me faad2-libs-2.6.1-5 from el5 is available. (I've done some stuff with my repos to try to get what I need for motion.) I installed

rpmforge vs epel
I've been informed that rpmforge and epel do not play well together and that if I use both, epel should have the higher (lower numbered) priority. Alas I had it the other way around. rpmforge messed up my effort to get audacity. I no longer need audacity, but would like to fix the situation before some other problem crops up. Would fixing the priorities and telling yum to reinstall all the

perl-Nagios-Plugin-0.35-1.el5.rf.noarch from rpmforge: dependency problem
Hi folks, I hope this is the right mailing list to ask since on the repoforge website there is no list or contact information. I have a problem with updating the perl-Nagios-Plugin package. I have installed perl-Nagios-Plugin-0.33-1.el6.rf.noarch, and running yum update leads to: > Error: Package: perl-Nagios-Plugin-0.35-1.el6.rf.noarch (rpmforge) > Requires:

excel parser (preferably perl)?
I'm getting tired of converting spreadsheets that someone else updates to csv so my perl scripts can push the data into a mysql database. Is there a better way? I haven't had much luck with perl-Spreadsheet-ParseExcel (and find it odd that yum prefers the .32 version from epel over .57 from rpmforge anyway). Is the current CPAN version better? Or the equivalent java tools? Or

tcptrack for Centos 5.5 32bit rpm
Hi list. I have rebuilt tcptrack now. You can get it from here: http://www.karsites.net/centos/downloads/5.5/tcptrack-1.3.0-1.el5.i386.rpm It's not signed, so to install it with yum as root user, do: # yum localinstall --nogpgcheck tcptrack-1.3.0-1.el5.i386.rpm in the directory you d/l it to. Do you happen to know of somewhere other than rpmforge where I can find hexedit and gqview for el6 ? Epel has them for el5, but not el6. Fortunately, installing them from rpmforge didn't drag along any dependencies. -- Bob Nichols

Perl package problems
For a while now I've been seeing skipped-package notices, which I don't really understand. I know it's a version mis-match, but all my attempts to sort it out have failed, so I need help, please. After system update yesterday, Openwebmail now gives an error: > Undefined subroutine &Compress::Zlib::memGzip called at /var/www/cgi-bin/openwebmail/shares/ow-shared.pl line 1175. I tried to do perl -MCPAN -e shell install Compress::Zlib But it says Compress::Zlib is up-to-date. What do to??
