pdb_increment_bad_password_count
After moving from Redhat AS4 to RHEL 5.5 we started noticing these error messages in the messages log. Upgrade procedure was to build new machine with updated OS, install new samba, duplicate existing ldap server connections, and then shutdown the old box and put new one in place. Messages were not seen on AS4 box and smb.conf file is identical on new box. I am wondering if there was a change

Valgrind/Callgrind 3.6.1 does not appear to work on Centos Linux 5.5
Hi, For the last day or two I having been trying to get Valgrind/Callgrind 3.6.1 to work on Centos Linux 5.5 using a simple Fibonacci C++ program(shown below). After compiling the program using g++ -g -o MatchUpAccurate MatchUpAccurate.cpp, we run: /home/frankc/DQTTest/valgrind-3.6.1/coregrind/valgrind --tool=callgrind --dump-instr=yes --simulate-cache=yes --collect-jumps=yes

updating without rebooting
Hi all, I'm curious. If I do yum update (which include kernel update) but don't reboot. Is it OK? I mean apart of the kernel, other things like services, we don't have to reboot if we don't have the chance to do it (postponing to some other date), right? Thank you.

Build environment for totem-2.16.7-7.el5_6.1.src.rpm
This package has a build requirement 'gecko-devel' which is fulfilled by 'xulrunner-devel'. But in the process of building the browser plugins two tools named 'xpidl' and 'xpt_link' are necessary. They werde once part of 'gecko-devel' but are now replaced by other tools. I haven't found any package that has these tools all the way back to 5.0. Maybe

quite dramatic and sudden problem...
Hi all I'm running since a couple of years a samba ver 3.0.33-3.29.el5_6.2 On a Red Hat 5 with kernel 2.6.18. Samba is member of a domain, with short name BNNAS03; some shares are using domain users, some are anonymous, open to a list of IPs. Suddenly is happening that, from my win7 computer is all ok if I call is with \\bnnas03 I see all shares, I can access and so on. If I call with

glibc-2.5-58.el5_6.2.i686 broken?
Hi, I woke up Saturday morning unable to boot my freshly upgraded 5.6 with grub hanging at "GRUB". After getting the boot loader fixed I experienced crashes in evolution. Downgrading glibc to 2.5-58 seems to fix these issues. Anyone else seeing this? Leonard. -- mount -t life -o ro /dev/dna /genetic/research
