Searching an Scsi Controller for CentOS 5
Hello, does CentOs 5 supports an Adaptec AHA-2940W/2940UW scsi controller (pci)? Is this controller maybe supported by the aic7xxx driver? I want to install CentOS 5 on my desktop pc but the currently installed pci scsi controller for my scanners (drivers: 2x tmscsim, 1x advansys) are not supported by CentOS. So I am searching for something else. Thanks in advanced. regards Olaf

Recent kernel update vs usb disk
Hello there, since kernel update 2.6.32-220.4.1.el6, one of my USB external SATA drives is not mounting. With kernel 2.6.32-131.21.1.el6, it auto-mounts in GNOME desktop when I plug the disk. When I plug the disk, this wakes it up and I see in /var/log/messages: kernel: usb 2-4.2: USB disconnect, address 11 kernel: usb 2-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 13 kernel: usb

Mac OS and interpretation of @ in a username. Ex user@mds.xyz doesn't work on Mac OS but does on Win 10
Am I missing something? I don?t see where you are using the ?@? symbol anywhere. Mac is probably interpreting the parameters ?valid users? and ?write list" (correctly, I think ;-) as a LIST of 3 users: joe, at, mds.xyz or bob, at, mds.xyz. torch

haldaemon crashes system?
I'm in the process of setting up CentOS 4.3 on an old 400MHz K6 and found that the system hangs within several seconds of starting haldaemon. With haldaemon disabled, everything seems to work. >From what I've read, disabling haldaemon isn't a problem, but I thought I'd ask if anyone else has seen similar problems or if anyone had any troubleshooting tips. Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is

Traffic mirroring
Hello, We're interested in mirroring traffic from a host's guests to another host's guest. We've been able to achieve that on the same host; redirecting traffic from the host's bridge interface (VLAN) to one of the guest's in the same host by using the tc command. But, when it comes to traffic from one host to the other, we haven't been able to pull it through.

vfs fruit disk_free fails on tmsize overflow with macOS Time Machine
Thanks torch ? I tried those suggestions but nothing changed. I did however manage to find an existing bug which matches my symptoms: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13622 Fortunately it mentions a fix, but that was never implemented, so I created a new branch from v4-11-test on the gitlab shadow copy and tried the fix there. After compiling, my tests on Raspbian show that this does

problem starting X11 on centos 6
Hi All, I had an issue. Manually installing Centos 6 everything worked X11 came up with nvidia binary drivers. Cool. However, I am working on a kickstart install for Centos 6 and that was not working. When I started X it would hang. no mouse no keyboard. however , remote ssh was available and worked. Thinking I had some serious bug in nvidia binary was my thought - but I kept looking. I saw

Clients send tons of Notiftication requests
I have been trying to help Luca on the QNAP forum since I have the same NAS. It reports smbd version 4.7.12. I have not had any issues, but I am in a Mac/Linux environment only. In Luca?s case, he is using NFS (not sure what version) on his Mac and I initially thought that maybe it was initiating change notifications somehow. Possible?

(example: Configure Samba to Work Better with Mac OS X [ https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_Samba_to_Work_Better_with_Mac_OS_X] ). Thanks for the suggestion though. I've now been trying out the various Apple specific flags in vfs_fruit ( https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/current/man-html/vfs_fruit.8.html), though with no success thus far. Example settings tried in smb.conf: [global]

On your Samba server, check build options: #: smbd -b - look for vfs_catia, vfs_fruit, vfs_streams_xattr modules. Hi, is there a function that replaces the following code? n=200 boot.x[1]=odhad+boot.res[1] #(boot.x[0]=1) for (j in 1:(n-1)) { boot.x[j+1]=odhad*boot.x[j]+boot.res[j+1] } This is nested in two other loops, and I am looking for some way to improve code performance I tried sapply and cumprod but no success. vfs objects
Is the ?important" vfs objects parameter documented in a man page anywhere? It appears in the man pages of several vfs modules, but never fully documented that I could find. Apparently it once was from a now dead link https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/old/Samba3-HOWTO/smb.conf.5.html#VFSOBJECTS <https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/old/Samba3-HOWTO/smb.conf.5.html#VFSOBJECTS> .
