Jumbo Frame performance or lackof?
After successfully getting higher MTU to work on my Realtek NICs, I
started testing the impact of higher MTU on file transfers using NFS
exported ramdisk to ramdisk.
The results were unexpected. The higher the MTU on the sending NIC,
the lower the file transfer speed. I tested by using time cp to copy a
1GB file (In case compression might affect the results, so I dd the
test file from the CentOS

Realtek 8111GR on C7
Realtek is "real" good about getting drivers for their chips into the
kernels as soon as possible. They are one of the few vendors that I have
never had a problem with built in support...

Realtek 8111GR on C7
Hi list,
I'm planning to buy a mobo (z170-K) that has Realtek 8111GR (nic).
I've tried to search on google about support on C7 but can't fine anything.
There is a way to check if supported?
Is the Realtek 8111GR supported or I must change mobo?
Thanks in advance.

Odd transfer speed issue
Hi all,
I'm seeing slow transfers to/from my samba server. I just tried to copy a
270MB file from a samba share to an XP machine. At first, the estimated time
displayed as 141 minutes :(
The odd thing is that if I then flood-ping from the server (in this case, I
pinged my dsl router), the transfer completes in about 10 seconds. Hitting
F5 repeatedly when browsing a share on the server

eth0 killed when adding virtual interface and multiple NICs are present
I have a strange problem on one machine where eth0 gets killed when I add
a virtual interface. It's got something to do with the NIC ordering or
with the xen network script having a problem with multiple NICs and
virtual interfaces. I could need some help/comments on this.
Some history:

XCP 1.0 beta Realtek 8168 nic not working
I''m trying to build out a test cloud using XCP 1.0.0 beta with 3 machines of
18 cores total (Phenom II 1090s). I''ve built three machines, installed XCP
1.0.0 beta on them and they all three
have the same problem - the Realtek network cards don''t work. The following

RealTek 8168B (Rev 02) Issue
The 8168B (02) NIC works well except that it does not go into promiscuous
mode despite advertising itself in that mode after being so directed with
ifconfig. Unfortunately, the little box is destined to be an IDS monitor, so that
function is essential. The board is an Intel Atom 330 run as x86_64, the nic
is
internal.
We tried three drivers: the one in the 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5 kernel yields

motherboard. Integrated network card is Realtek 8111B.
I can not wake the computer after I shutdown it from FreeBSD.
It is a dualboot system - windows xp and freebsd. If I shutdown the
computer from windows - later I can wake it up with magic packet. Even

XCP jumbo frames in vm
Hello all,
Not sure if I am completely missing something but here goes. I have
XCP 1.0 running without any issues. I have the mtu set on both the
storage network, the corresponding PIF, and the VIF to 9000 and when
displayed in ifconfig it shows that this is indeed true. I have
several CentOs 5.6 VMs running in HVM mode (i.e. no xen kernel) which
attach to the the storage network through these

conflict between Realtek 8139 (client) and 3c2000T (server) NIC's with Samba?
Hi,
Last friday I changed the NIC in two of our Samba servers from a 3com 905b
(100mb) to a 3com 2000T (1000mb) to take advantage of our new switch which
supports gigabit.
One of the workstations (XP SP1, with all subsequent patches and hotfixes
and with an onboard Realtek 8139) then started
to have problems with the two Samba servers with the new NIC's. It could see

3.2.1 HVM network packets dropped
Dear,
I''ve attempted to upgrade a Xen box from 3.1.2 to 3.2.1. Unfortunately
it has been a partial success only. At this point I''m really stuck
with a network problem that affects my HVM machines (Linux PV run
fine).
The really odd thing is that everything seems to work properly, except
that the "vif" network interfaces in dom0 seem to have only dropped TX
packets for

Centos Realtek Network driver for Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Greetings,
I am tearing my hair at getting this to work under centos 5.5/Ubuntu 10.04.
Any suggesstions (Repos, RPMs etc)?
My MB Intel embedded NIC blow up after a lightning (Mumbai get _real_
heavy mansoon rains inter alia).
I want this to make work under Centos 5.x (and 6.x subsequently who
DVD I have been downloading with a pithy 128kbps connection).

[pxelinux] fix for Realtek PXE implementation
I found (and fixed) a problem with my realtek onboard 8139 controller.
dhcpd server sends filename "pxelinux.0" but realtek requests
"pxelinux.0\377"
(i.e. the octal character 377 is appended), resulting in a file not found
during
the tftpd phase.
I fixed this by adding a mapping to tftpd:
# strip ending garbage from filenames (Realtek PXE bug)

Intel D425KT Motherboard / Realtek RTL8105E
Greetings-
I'm attempting to get CentOS 5.5 x86 (yes, very specific version required for specific software usage scenario... don't ask) running on an Intel D425KT mini-ITX motherboard. Everything works fine, with the exception of the onboard ethernet, which is a Realtek RTL8105E chip. The stock CentOS installation attempts to use the r8169 driver, which does not work.
