iSCSI Question
Hey everyone,
Is anybody aware of a /true/ active/active multi-head and multi-target
clustered iSCSI daemon?
IE:
Server 1:
Hostname: host1.test.com
IP Address: 10.0.0.1
Server 2:
Hostname: host2.test.com
IP Address: 10.0.0.2
Then they would utilize a CLVM disk between them, let's call that VG "disk"
and then directly map each LUN (1,2,3,4,etc) to LV's named 1,2,3,4,... and

When will CentOS Publish Errata?
Hello,
Currently The CentOS project publishes errata on its CentOS Announce mailing list. In order to import this into a package management system (like Katello on The Foreman), one needs to parse the mailing list and convert it into XML before importing it. This is done to some extent on http://cefs.steve-meier.de/ but some more legwork needs to be done before The Foreman can understand the

CentOS 5.6 PHP 5.3 and SquirrelMail
OK, so I did an upgrade to PHP 5.3 on one of my servers. I noticed the
uninstall of php also removed SquirrelMail and it won't install under
PHP 5.3. Has anybody worked this out with a good RPM or repo solution?

xferlog not rotating.
I am not sure how to correctly troubleshoot this. I just noticed that my
/var/log/xferlog file is huge. There are no files in /etc/logrotate.d/
for xferlog. This is what leads me to believe that it isnot rotating. Or
perhaps I do not have it set to rotate. I am not sure.
I am running CentOS release 5 (Final).
Can someone tell me what I, apparently, do not have configured correctly.
Thank

Web based file versioning frontend
Hey guys,
Need an opinion on what to use for file versioning text conf files that get updated by
scheduled rsync's etc. Need something that can watch the file, so it doesn't need an
explicit checkin, and can be diffed by a web front end.
I haven't any preference on backend either.
Thanks for any suggestions,

Help integrating CentOS 6 with existing network login infrastructure
I've updated my kickstart configuration files to work with CentOS 6 and am most of the way there integrating a CentOS 6 system into our LDAP/NIS environment. My authconfig line in the kickstart file is as follows:
authconfig --enablemd5 --passalgo=sha512 --enablenis --nisdomain=XXX --nisserver=nis.XXX.com --useshadow --enablekrb5 --krb5realm=XXX.COM --krb5kdc=ldap.XXX.com

local repo
Hi all,
When I am installing I use kickstart and have a line like:
repo --name=Updates
--baseurl=http://192.168.1.14/centos/5.6/updates/x86_64/
and that works great for installing the OS.
After that the machine reboots and I have it automatically go into
additional installations running scripts.
These installations do "yum install XXX".
However, its no longer using my above repo

Does anybody know why this list is private and password protected? It
would be nice to see progress, but it appears that part of the

fencing nodes with drac under 5.9
Hi all,
A recent update to CentOS 5.9 has broken my cluster's ability to fence
nodes. I have two Dell's which are both fenced via their DRAC6 cards. The
current configuration in cluster.conf for the fencing devices is:
<fencedevice agent="fence_drac5" cmd_prompt="admin1->"
ipaddr="192.168.251.11" login="fencer" name="ms1-drac"

disabling self-fencing
Hi all,
on my nodes I have another cluster manager running that takes care of
fencing the node, is it safe to disable ocfs2 self-fencing?
Details:
I'm using ocfs2 over drbd in master/master aka primary/primary mode.
In case of loss of network connectivity I would like to disconnect the
drbd device, invalidate it and unmount the filesystem but ocfs2
reboots the node....
Is it possible to

Drive recovery?
I have a CentOS 5.6 system (recently installed) that, for some
reason, has decided to mangle one of its drives, specifically /dev/hde1
... No errors anywhere, just rebooted the machine over the weekend and
it's gone. Up till the reboot, the drive was fine, I was writing to it
without a problem.
fdisk tells me:
----------
# fdisk -l /dev/hde

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy,
where there are occasional thunder-storms.
There was one yesterday, when the electricity
went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion.
My server, an HP MicroServer,
came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions,
but not on the third.
I assume that the problem arises because the machine
does not close down properly.

2 node cluster, Heartbeat2, self-fencing
Hello everyone.
I am currently working on setting up new servers for my employer. Basically we
want two servers, all of them running several VEs (virtual environments,
OpenVZ) which can dynamically take over each others job if necessary. Some
services will run concurrently on both servers like apache2 (load balancing),
so those need concurrent access to specific data.
We had a close look at

Slices and reservations Was: Re: How long should an empty destroy take?
Hi,
instead of slicing and/or partitioning a drive one can also limit the
capacity the drive reports the controller and OS. This is what oem''s
do to ensure that drives from different manufacturers and revisions
all have the same capacity.
Different routes need to be followed for (S)ATA and SCSI/SAS drives,
because of different command sets. I''ve no experience with setting the

strange fencing behavior
I have 10 servers in a cluster running Debian Etch with 2.6.26-bpo.2
with a backport of ocfs2-tools-1.4.1-1
I'm using AoE to export the drives from a Debian Lenny server in the
cluster.
My problem is if I mount the ocfs2 partition on the server that is
exporting it via AoE it fences the entire cluster. Looking at the logs
exporting the ocfs2 partition doesn't give much information...
