EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
I was wondering what feedback might be offered by the CentOS community on their experiences using Scientific Linux? I'm a long-time Centos user, and am basically happy with CentOS. I understand there are delays getting EL 6 out. We have been long anxious to roll out EL 6 as soon as it's ready, but our time window for rollout is looming and we will need to act. RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Isn't it ridiculous that Hammer charges an arm and a leg for any work they do. For systems as large as that one, we just setup a seperate one, connect them back to back and run automated script to burn it in. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of William Boehlke Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006

advice sought on possible rollout
Hi all, one of our clients have three branch offices currently connected by ADSL lines. they are using Cisco 827-4V units with the FXS ports connected to their aging PBX units. I am thinking of installing an * server in the head office, maybe with an analogue FXO card connected to the PSTN so field officers in Melbourne can call sydney for a local call price. The question is - what Digium

Production-environment AD rollout?
Hey, all. I've used Samba a lot, but took a job about four years ago during which time I've only used it for one-off projects. Looks like I might take a new job, though, and I'll get to call the shots. I'd *love* to have Samba with AD running things, and just have Windows in-place as clients (possibly with Exchange... can't win 'em all). Is this feasible in this day and

Which distribution to rollout
we are running an older version of RH (7.3) - and I am getting concerned that I may need to migrate off of it - but I dont know what I should move to. Trying to formulate ideas before it becomes a 'got to do it now' scenario. I have some reservations about fedora - I just dont know how stable it is for a production server (our services are mainly samba/ldap/ntp/ssh/rsync/clamav) - we

Re: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Why is using ulaw or alaw an unlikely scenario? I wouldn't use anything but ulaw\alaw. The Bells can compete on price and will if they have to. Where they CAN'T compete is quality. If there were something better than 711, I'd offer that. Well, there is 722, but not many things support it. ---- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com ----- Original

Will QA web site have CentOS 6.1 status?
The QA web site at http://qaweb.dev.centos.org/qa/blog was really helpful for those of us who were curious as to how CentOS 6.0 was coming along. However, there doesn't seem to be much information as to how CentOS 6.1 is going from either the QA web site, the forums (Announcements), or Kananbir's twitter feed -- but it may be I'm just not looking in the right place. Does the QA

centos vs rhel vs scientific linux
i'm prepping to teach a 5-day intro class in linux starting in about 3 hours, and the courseware is clearly designed around RHEL (apparently 5.1). but since i'm not being provided with RHEL DVDs, i'm just going to hand everyone a centos 5.4 DVD and take it from there. as part of the intro, i want to briefly discuss the varieties of linux related to RHEL, so obviously i want to

Does anybody know why this list is private and password protected? It would be nice to see progress, but it appears that part of the development is completely locked down and not open source. -- Steven Crothers steven.crothers at gmail.com
