Synchronising password of some AD users with an external LDAP?
I'm in a situation where I should establish an external (i.e. non-AD)
LDAP directory for my employer for various web-based authentication
purposes. I don't think that Samba--or Windows AD, for that matter--in
and itself would be the best tool for this purpose; so far I've been
reviewing 389 DS, ApacheDS, OpenDJ and plain old OpenLDAP, but have made
no final decision yet.
Now however,

Edit request for DirectoryServerSetup
Hi,
I'd like to make (or request) a change to
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/DirectoryServerSetup.
This still lists the testing repository as the current location for the
centos-ds packages. However, as of May 2009, they are now in the extras
repository[1].
It would be nice to add some additional quick steps to this page as
well, such as running ds-admin-setup.pl, registering with another

dovecot-1.0.3 & apacheds ldap
I have problem with dovecot-1.0.3 and apacheds ldap server.
If I change just uris in dovecot-ldap.conf to point to fedora-ds server,
everything works O.K.
I've tried with apacheds ldap server versions 1.0.2 and 1.5.0
command line search with parameters taken from dovecot.debug log gives
me all needed attributes.
Comments and help welcome.

Remote Call Center Agents and Asterisk?
Anyone using Asterisk in a Call Center environment? And more importantly is
anyone supporting home based remote call center agents with an Asterisk
backend?
My experience with Asterisk is limited, however I have set it up and
installed it previously and had it working for home usage and for simply
playing around. My background however is with Cisco CallManager, Cisco
IPCCX for call centers as

fixture_file_upload and edge rspec?
Hi all,
I had some specs that were using fixture_file_upload that were
passing just fine. Then I froze edge rails to get some 2.0
functionality, then a I upgraded to trunk rspec to deal with
uninitialized constant ActionView::Helpers::JavaScriptMacrosHelper
After a couple other of tribulations, I have now gotten down to just
a couple of not passing specs, all using the fixture_file_upload.

Problem with SysLinux but not with LILO
Hi,
I am trying to use two products that use SysLinux and finally realised the
SysLinux is the cause of my woes. I'm trying to use Freesco and IPCop. IPCop
version 1.3 used a different boot loader to 1.4 which uses SysLinux. I have
been through numerous trials and tribulations in trying to get Freesco to
work but eventually gave up and went with IPCop. I kept getting the "Boot

overiding concatenation of tables by alphabetical order
Hi everyone!
When doing a has_and_belongs_to_many join, with two tables, rails
expects a join table whose name is the concatenation of the two table
names in an alphabetical order.
However i have a number of tables which do not follow this convection
and wish to have rails read and recognize them.
for example i have a table called feature and another called cvterm. The
join table is however

Extend schema on CentOS directory server
Currently I am running freeradius with an openldap backend, I am looking to move to the CentOS directory server.
The problem I am running into is that none of the RADIUS attributes I require are in the schema. My question is how do I update the schema with the needed freeradius attributes?
is it as easy as taking the openldap.schema file that freeradius provides and renaming it to something like

Understanding fcntl() error messages
Hey guys,
After many trials and tribulations I have now got some
fairly stable NFS clients serving dovecot-lda and pop3/imap. Over a 9 hour
postal/rabid stress test only saw 5 errors for the 4 servers. Wondering if
anyone can shed a bit more light on what they mean exactly. I have tried to
find "Resource temporarily unavailable" and "No locks available" in the src

trouble shooting slow ssh logins
Hi all,
I noticed that my ssh logins to a particular server were taking up to
5 seconds to finally login.
My tcpdump -vv weren't producing much output (not good) and my pings
to and from that host were normal and almost identical to other hosts
on my subnet that had no ssh login delay issues.
Log files also showed nothing alarming.
My hosts file was missing this at the very end of

disk quotas + centos 5,5 +xfs
Hi all,
is any one aware quotas not working in 5,5?
I'm using XFS as a file system.
My fstab has the appropriate usrquota,grpquota but when I try to run;
quotacheck -cug /foo
I get;
quotacheck: Can't find filesystem to check or filesystem not mounted
with quota option.
I already have a large amount of data in the mount. Do quotas get
implemented on only empty filesystems and

Directory Server vs just plain old LDAP server
Hi all,
I'm migrating from my Cent 5.x LDAP server to Cent 6.x.
But wondering if there are any advantages to the Directory Server package itself?
Been using regular old LDAP server for years now. I manage it both via Webmin and command line as well as some tweaks to a Drupal module.
The fail over has always sort of bothered me as the secondary LDAP servers pull vs being pushed to, at

partition woes (mapper/isw_bdihgcgahe_Volume0p2)
Hi,
I found 2 identical drives lying around and put them into a system.
When booting from a Centos 5.x installer, and when being presented
with the formatting option (disk druid), it says I have 1 volume of;
mamapper/isw_bdihgcgahe_Volume0p2
I can't seem to get rid of it. I have 2 physical disks but disk druid
is seeing 1 volume thats the same size as one of the 2 identical drives.
