Centos 4.3 & drbd
Hiya, I'm new to Centos but learning rapidly but I have been using FreeBSD. I'm trying to setup a HA NFS server using 2 machines. Both machines are running 4.3 updated to the latest via Yum. I did yum groupinstall drbd-heartbeat and yum install kernel-module-drbd-kernel-module-drbd-2.6.9-34.EL to match my kernel. The problem I have is that on 1 machine drbd works fine, but when I start

Unable to figure out extlinux
OK, been perusing the archives and Google, but can't find what I want. I'm building up a 512 MB compact flash using the CLFS directions to build the filesystem. That works great, but I would like to use extlinux to make the cflash bootable on my little SBC. However, to date, no dice. Attached is my extlinux.conf file and the steps I have used to make this work. Initially I tried to

host controller halted... scarry error
Yesterday i was copying a few dump files (backups) about 1GB in size from my centOS 3.4, on a samba share, to my windows, when the centOS box stopped responding. The HDD LED was on and after I connected a monitor all I could see was this error message over and over again: "usb-uhci.c: host controller halted, trying to restart" I wasn't able to login or anything, so I saw no other

Issues with cifs mounts following Samba upgrade to 3.0.23a
My LAN includes a server machine running FC4, with several shares mounted with Samba. Yesterday, I upgraded the packages on the FC4 machine, and these included Samba, which is now at 3.0.23a. Unfortunately, this seems to have broken the mounted shares for my Ubuntu 6.06 installation on my Acer 1682WLMI laptop. The cifs module on Ubuntu reports as version 1.39. The symptoms are that I can

acard 865 corruption issues
Hi Andre, ext3 folk, It would be really great if you could help me out here, I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue, a driver issue, an ext3 issue or some combination of them... I have a KT133A motherboard with an on-board promise controller, and an ACARD ATP865 in a PCI slot. I'm running 2.4.19-ac4 with the lvm 1.0.5 patches. The acard has two drives, hde and hdg attached to it, both

Software RAID on Centos 4 - new issue
OK, I have managed to get software RAID 1 running on my wonderful Proliant server but now have two challenges: 1) Fresh after an OS install and reboot, the RAID array starts to do its stuff but straight away (as part of the boot messages) I am told that the second disk is 'not ready for command' and the system hangs as soon as resyncing starts. I think this is fixed by adding an hdparm

Ext3 bad magic after upgrage FC1 to FC4
Dear All, I have server with a 160G disk with one partition /dev/hde1. The PC had FC1 and everything was working fine. I decided to do an upgrade to FC4. Now I can no longer mount that partition. I don't think anything happened to the file system, but changes in kernel and modules due to the upgrade is now making it inaccessible. I tried: mk2fs -n /dev/hde1 got a list of

Problem after system hang and reboot
Hello, a system here stopped because it had a hardware problem. We rebooted it and have now the following problem: The data disk /dev/hde1 is formatted as ext3. Obviously one of the inodes is bad and we get a lot of lines: Truncating prphaned inode 8863987 (uid=0, gid=0, mode=0100644, size=742) when running fsck. These lines have always the same values (inode, mode, ... are equal) and ar enow

Installation problem, possibly RAID
I burned a DVD for CentOS 4.1. I booted from it and everything went fine for the graphical screen installation. I choose separate partitions for my /boot (hde6), / (hde9), and swap (hde12) areas. My /boot partition was ext2 and my / partition was ext3. I installed grub in my /boot partition successfully. I have a Boot Loader, System Commander 8.13 which controls the MBR. The installation then

[Fwd: e2fsck Segmentation Fault]
Hi, Somehow I've managed to get e2fsck to seg fault.. The filesystem in question started acting very strangely (e.g. filenames changing from music to MuSiC etc) so I rebooted, and since when fsck has crashed every time it has been run. I'm not really sure what any of this means, so I didn't know what debugging output to include, but below is the output of e2fsck. (I would have

iSCSI Question
Hey everyone, Is anybody aware of a /true/ active/active multi-head and multi-target clustered iSCSI daemon? IE: Server 1: Hostname: host1.test.com IP Address: 10.0.0.1 Server 2: Hostname: host2.test.com IP Address: 10.0.0.2 Then they would utilize a CLVM disk between them, let's call that VG "disk" and then directly map each LUN (1,2,3,4,etc) to LV's named 1,2,3,4,... and

Error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) when doing local rsync.
Hi, I cannot seem to find a good answer for what I am doing wrong; I am simply trying to rsync a directory from one large disk partition to another disk, both ext2, on the same physical system by using the command: rsync --archive -v /etc /mnt/hdf/ I systematically get the following errors: # rsync --archive -v /etc /mnt/hdf/ building file list ... done etc/ etc/mtab etc/ntp/drift

PXELINUX with Kernel 2.6.15.4: VFS: Cannot open root device "hde1" or unknown-block(0, 0)
Hello again, I'm always not able to boot-up my CF-FileSystem. (It works with a 2.4.x Kernel!) See: http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2006-June/006942.html I dont't understand, why the kernel can't mount the root-fs on exit of "linuxrc". Before finising "linuxrc" I can work on it, start a "bash"-shell, do all sorts of linux-cmds on the root-fs...

32E (64bit) VMX keyboard is out of control, if given an addition ''hde''
Hi, This issue only happens on my IA32E VMX domain. IA32 VMX domain is okay. I am trying VBD disk in IA32E VMX domain. I used following disk configuration to create an IA32E VMX domain. disk = [ ''file:/mnt/disk1.img,hda,w'', ''file:/mnt/disk2.img,hde,w'' ] After creating VMX, its keyboard can not be used properly. For example, if pressing
