preparing to migrating to new system
hi all, I will be migrating my mail server from centos 4.8 to 6 when its released. Basically its just a number of users with their passwords. Their mail is downloaded to their clients and not stored on the server. What is the most sensible or correct way to migrate ALL the users to the new system? Way in the past is was just perhaps copy the /etc/passwd file but I know thats not the case

qemu-kvm version for CentOS
WHY CentOS still using qemu-kvm 0.12? What I am need is high version of qemu-kvm for CentOS, but seems like they do not officially provide newest qemu, only qemu 0.12 source code with 3522 patched rpm package. Is there any reasonable to keep low version for qemu-kvm ? or what should I do if I need newest qemu-kvm rpm package? ✉ -- 朴元奎 kerwin

USB 3.0 in qemu-kvm-0.12
I suspect I know the answer here, but is qemu-kvm-0.12 simply incapable of passing a USB 3.0 device to a guest? USB 2 devices work fine, but USB 3 -- nothing. USB 3.0 works fine in the host, of course. Currently using qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.479.el6_7.4.x86_64 in CentOS 6.7. I'm guessing I have to upgrade to CentOS 7 to pass USB 3.0 devices to the guest. Hoping to avoid that just now. -- Bob

Resize KVM NTFS file system
Hey all, I resized a partition inside a KVM RAW file system disk image. When I start the Win7 virtual machine it does not report the new partition size. It shows the file system as 15GB instead of the 50GB size of the partition that it lives on. I gather from hours so reading the manual that I need to increase the NTFS file system size to fill the new larger partition where it lives. The

[LLVMdev] JIT and garbage collection
If I recall correctly, the garbage collector interface consists mostly of some fuctions that one calls during execution to notify the collector about a GC root. There's one othr thing that's needed if you do JIT compilation: you have to garbage-collect the generated code. This means that the collector must be able to find where the pointers are in the generated code together with

Bug#592875: pxelinux: incompatible with qemu with kvm enabled
it seems versions of pxelinux 4.00 and later hangs qemu (0.12.x, 0.13.x) when network booting using etherboot or gPXE and qemu's kvm support is enabled. pxelinux 3.86 and earlier do not appear to trigger the problem. i also didn't experience the problem with qemu-kvm (formerly known as kvm). qemu without kvm support enabled also seems to work fine. for more details, please see:

Is there a way to use kvm-amd on centos 5.1? I dont want to mess with XEN. I want the hardware virtualization that is on my AMD chip. Is there a way or do I just wave to use 2.6.24 or 25. Thanks, Jerry

qemu-kvm-0.15 + CentOS 5.6 + vanilla 2.6.35.14 (working, patch included)
Hi! Just in case somebody else needs this. Below is a patch which allows building qemu-kvm-0.15 unter CentOS 5.6 with vanilla kernel 2.6.35.14 and (optionally) vde2 [1]. FYI: qemu-kvm-0.15 compiles fine on CentOS 6 with distro-kernel, no patches needed. For CentOS 5.6, unpack 0.15 qemu-kvm tarball [2], apply the path below, configure and compile. Make sure to export the kernel include path

localhost/PING is CRITICAL
Hi all, I've recently switched to the latest rt kernel available from http://people.centos.org/hughesjr/kernel-rt And one of the two problems I'm having with this new kernel is that the logs have been flooded with nagios alerts which indicate high percentage (50-60) of packet loss when pinging localhost. The problem shows up several hours after the system reboot. Any ideas on what might

Is there a simple way to calculate summary statistics for all the matrices or dataframes in a list? For example: > z <- list(matrix(c(2,2,2,2), ncol = 2), matrix(c(4,4,4,4), ncol = 2)) > z [[1]] [,1] [,2] [1,] 2 2 [2,] 2 2 [[2]] [,1] [,2] [1,] 4 4 [2,] 4 4 > I would like to calculate, for example, the mean value for each cell. Re: qemu-kvm version for CentOS
Centos is not going to generally have the cutting edge stuff. For that why not try fedora which will generally package with the newest libraries from various packages, including qemu . I think the current fedora repos have qemu 2.1 > On Jul 6, 2014, at 10:01 AM, kerwin <piaoyuankui@gmail.com> wrote: > > WHY CentOS still using qemu-kvm 0.12? > > What I am need is high
