udev and mobile broadband
Hello,
I have a strong suspicion that something is not working right on my el6 laptop.
I have a usb 3g dongle that works fine on windows and ubuntu. It's one of those ZTE dual-personality devices (usb id 19d2:2000). When it's plugged in, it appears as usb storge device, then needs to be ejected, then it appears as usb modem with few serial ports.
This is handled properly by udev on

Problem connecting a USB modem.
Hi
I'm trying to connect a USB CDMA modem (z010) to a CentOS 4.1
(kernel 2.6.9-11.EL) and I can't talk to the modem. I tried the
same modem under Fedora Core 1 (2.4.22-1.2199.nptl) and it works
like a charm.
The only difference is /dev/ttyACM0 for CentOS and /dev/input/ttyACM0
for the Fedora.
Any help would be appreciated.
Tank's.

modem not initialised
Hi all,
I have one last windows programme to get working under wine before I can
ditch my company's last windows pc, but so far I am stumped by it. The
programme is supplied by our bank & is used to dial up to the bank, log into
the network & do things like viewing statements, making bacs payments etc.
The programme runs fine but when I try to connect to the bank I get an error

Modem network card conflict
Hi All,
Here's a strange one for you...
I have a Linux box with a PCMCIA adapter PCI card in it. Plugged into said
card is a cellular modem card.
I can configure wvdial and dial the modem card perfectly. My ppp0
interface comes up and I can ping everything.
I also have a network card on the motherboard. Once again, by itself the
network card works correctly. That is with the modem

Advice Partner PRPC650 - no serial device
Good day!
I'm struggling to connect by Advice Partner PRPC650 UPS to Nut. The
UPS uses USB for communication and the current problem is that serial
device (/dev/ttyUSB*) is not detected. OS is Debian Lenny (same
behavior on Ubuntu Hardy).
Did anyone have any success with this UPS? Here is what my dmesg and
udevmonitor say (on Debian):

Magellan Roadmate tools 3050T & Suse 10.2
I am trying to access my GPS using wine 0.9.24 0n Suse 10.2 and Cxoffice 6.0
Beta 3a . Cxoffice 5.03 does not work at all with my Suse 10.2 installation.
The Magellan road mate tools work well enough in both cxoffce beta and wine,
however wine seems to handle it better when importing POI ( Points of
Interest) files. Overall I think the wine included with Suse 10.2 is doing a
better job -

Kickstart, package always selected
I'm trying to kickstart a Centos 4.1 system with the minimum set of
packages. I have no use for ypbind so I'm trying to prevent from
being installed, but kickstart/anaconda always insist on its
installation (complaining that the package is missing). This is the
%packages section of my ks file so far:

minimal installation - kickstart error
Hi
I have inherited some kickstarts that attempt to remove some packages
that at some point its been deemed they are not required.
I am migrating all this over to cobbler but trying to get to the bottom
of this error that although the kickstart completes sshd cant start as
the package nss is not installed.
It fails with this

NUT v2.7.1 - Not working on UPS SOLA BASIC SR MICRONET XRN-21-481
Hi Charles!
Thanks a lot for your response.
Now I figure why the isbmex driver was not working. On the other hand I've
tried to run the command suggested. But no success.
I got this information when running the dmesg command after running the
modprobe

Guide to stripping Centos 3
I responded to a post in the Dell poweredge mailing list
earlier today. My answer was off the top of my head, with a
bit of experimentation. The content may be useful in the
Cenyos context as well to admin's looking to strip the size of
an install to the bare bones.
Comment welcomed. Can anyone see any packages which I have
missed?

CentOS 5.1 install via PXE Failure
Hi All,
This has to be something simple....but it's really busting my chops. We have
a PXE boot server that is used for initial installation of a number of
operating systems and it works well. However the CentOS 5.1 x86_64 install
is seriously broken.
We've made the PXE boot images available from
"centos/5/os/x86_64/images/pxeboot/" in the tftp boot etc. We've rsynced
