I have a Centos 5.6 server which is using the default php packages. These currently contain PHP 5.1.6. My main use of PHP on the server is to support an installation of WordPress. I currently had WP 3.1.2 installed, but the WP developers have announced that from WP 3.2 they will only support PHP 5. and greater. So I investigated and found that the Centos repo contains a series of php53 packages.

Not sure where to start on this. I went to examine a log file today and noticed a password protected internal file was being accessed from 16.0.0.0. Upon further review every log entry has the same IP. Accessing apache from localhost also reports 16.0.0.0. Google is not being my friend right now, any advice? It appears that the rpm does not list the logging.properties as a config file, as such every time yum updates the file get overwritten. /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0.x86_64/jre/lib/logging.properties For now I have a cron job to replace it.
