what''s correct way of shrinking LVM based domU?
Hi all
I want to shrink one of my LVM based domU''s, but don''t quite know how to
do it.
I have searched the Wiki & HOWTO''s, and they all show you how expand /
enlarge a LVM based domU, but not shrinking it.
So, I stopped (destroyed) the domU, and then resized it as follows:
lvresize /dev/data/cpanel1 -L10GB (It was 100GB), but when I a started

whoops, corrupted my filesystem
Hi all-
I corrupted my filesystem by not doing a RTFM first... I got an automated
email that the process monitoring the SMART data from my hard drive detected
a bad sector. Not thinking (or RTFMing), I did a fsck on my partition-
which is the main partition. Now it appears that I've ruined the
superblock.
I am running Fedora Core 6. I am booting off the Fedora Core 6 Rescue CD in

Setting up FSTAB
I am setting up Xen for the first time and have run into a problem.
My system was initially setup with Fedora Core 4.
I was able to successfully create a File-backed VBD.
When I boot the domain,I get an error message that is listed at the end of
the below boot messages. I suspect the problem is casued by my fstab.
However,
I am not sure how it should be configured. Fstab listed also.
Any pointers

e2fsck: Bad magic number in super-block
I posted this to the Fedora-list, but thought I might get some
additional information here as well.
I have a HD that refuses to mount with a 'bad magic number in

Re: URGENT: OCFS2 hang - 32 node cluster POC
Run:
# top
# vmstat 1
# iostat -x /dev/emcpowerb 1
The latter two you can save to a file. For top, just monitor cpu usage
and see if any process is hogging all of it.

LVM repairing or back to regular ext3?
Can anyone point me in the right direction for correcting errors on an HD
when using LVM? I've tried e2fsck and indicates bad block. I've tried
with -b 8193, 16384, and 32768 and no good.
I've found some info about reiserfsck on google, but this utility doesn't
seem to be included in Centos4.3. I did find it on my old FC1 box.
I am thinking now I really should have went with

ext3 + fs > 2Tbyte
Hi list
this is actually a problem on a debian system but I thought you might
be interested to hear of it and perhaps can offer some help.
I have a woody box (dell pe750, dual cpu) running a kernel from
backports.org (debian 'testing' packages built on a 'stable' box).
The kernel version is 2.6.7-1.backports.org.1.
This host is hooked up to an Apple Xserve RAID with a 2.3Tbyte

Burning CDs
Hi,
I have just installed 4.1 on a new Dell Latitude d610. It does
not automount the CDs. When I mount the CD manually I get:
$mount /media/cdrecorder
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
The CD writer is an Philips IDE: CDRW/DVD-ROM CDD5263
Here is my mtab:
$ cat /etc/mtab

none /proc proc rw 0 0

Hi all,
One of our Dell servers has failed badly, and one of the domU's has been

recover data from linear raid
Hello,
I had a scientific linux 3.0.4 system (rhel compatible), with 3
ide disks, one for / and two others in linear raid (250 gb and 300 gb
each).
This system was obsoleted so i move the raid disks to a new
scientific linux 3.0.7 installation. However, the raid array was not
detected ( I put the disks on the same channels and same master/lsave
setup as in the previous setup). In fact

Installation problems with large mirrored drives

successfully install to either of the drives as a single drive, but when
I try to use both drives and mirror the partitions, I start having
problems. Anaconda crashes as it is trying to format the drives.
This is what I'm trying to create:

Resizing a Xen DomU disk image
Hello Mailing List!
A quick question. Has anyone gotten a resize (in my case grown) a Xen
DomU disk image?
Here is the procedure I have followed:
1. Install a DomU using virt-install
Customize xvda to be all one partition ext3
2. On Dom0:
dd if=/dev/zero bs=1G count=1 >> <my_disk_image>
ll -h (Image is now 1GB larger)
xm create <DomU>
On DomU:

e2fsck: bad magic number in super-block
Hi,
I'm on kernel 2.14.13-ac8 running Redhat 7.1. I've
successfully converted all my file system to ext3 and
is working fine for a couple of weeks. However, I did
a silly thing when I e2fsck (version 1.23) an ext3
/home partiction without umounting it. Now, I believe
my partiton super-block is corrupted and the system
wasn't able to mount /home. I tried as suggested to do

Harddisk gone bad
Hi all,
I know this is the EXT3 list, and my problem is with an EXT2 filesys, but I cannot seem to find a more suitable list on this server, and I have seen a lot of knowledge go by on this list and in the archives, so I thought I'd give it a try anyway...
Here goes nothing:
I am in a terrible problem: My data disk on my Linux server has gone bad, with approx 18 GB of data on it, and I
