64-bit ISO Burning Failures
Hi,
I have downloaded several different sets of the 64-bit ISOs, and have
burned them to CD using various of my known-good ISO burning softwares,
including Nero and DeepBurn on Windows, as well as the native CD burning
KDE linux tool on Xandros Linux. I am using mirrors from the site, like
kernel.org.
I have chosen low burning speeds also, but when I insert the ISO CD into a
server and boot it

CD burning issues & questions
I have been having some strange results trying to burn CDs under
CentOS. I don't think they are hardware related because I have had
some success, in fact most of this usually works.
I use k3b for most of my CD and DVD writing - it seems to work fairly
well (well, except for wrecking my installation a few weeks ago when
it crashed my installation and I had to reinstall to get it back, but

Cannot play rmvb video files after burning to DVD
Hi,
I am running CentOS 5.2. I tried to burn rmvb video files to DVD+R
disk using Nautilus 2.16.2, the files were burned to the disk, but
could not play it back with errors "Unkown file format". It was no
problem to play the same file located on the disk. Any advice please?
Thank you.
Kind Regards,

k3b doesn't burn video disk
I create DVDs from camcorder output. In the past I've always just dragged the
AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders into k3b and the disk has burned successfully.
On this new box I tried to do the same, but k3b says that it 'Found invalid
entry in the VIDEO_TS folder (AUDIO_TS). That seems to be utter nonsense, if
it means that AUDIO_TS is inside the folder VIDEO_TS. If it doesn't,

Cent OS 6 freezing up
I've been out of pocket for a while, so don't shoot me, if this has
already been brought up. I'm having a problem with my desktop freezing
up, and I'm running Cent OS 6. It seems to happen while I'm running
firefox. I'm not sure if it's firefox, or the OS that's locking up.
When it freezes up, nothing will respond, so I'm inclined to think it's

problems with burning i386 centos 6 dvd
Hey guys,
Thanks a lot for the CentOS 6 distro. I am having trouble burning the i386
dvds. I tried on a RHEL 6 deskop and also a CentOS 5 laptop. The command I
am running on both systems is this:
growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=4 -Z
/dev/sr0=/home/gsgatlin/CentOS-6.0-i386-bin-DVD/CentOS-6.0-i386-bin-DVD.iso
The error I am seeing is:
:-( /dev/sr0: 2295104 blocks are free, 2297586 to be written!

non-bootable dvd image
Hi all;
I downloaded the centos 4.3 image onto my linux box and used k3b to burn a DVD iso image. It seemed to work fine.
I have an SuSE laptop and I want to setup a CentOS VM via Vmware 5.5
If I insert the dvd and boot the new vm I get 'no operating system found' It seems to be a non-bootable dvd. Is there something additional I need to do when burning the dvd image to make it

secure boot.
I've been reading up some about the new "secure boot" that's
coming out on new machines when MS releases Win 8. Has a workaround been
developed yet for those of us who don't want to run windows? Typically,
I mostly build my own desktops, and I install cent os right from the
start, but sometimes I do buy a desktop, and naturally it comes with
windows on it, so I have to do a

App for burning CD from MP3s
I would like to be able to make an audio CD directly from some mp3
files I have. I know that isn't the best way due to the lossy nature
of the MP3 format, but that's ok for this purpose.
K3b is supposed to be able to do this, but I got an unsupported file
type error when I tried this. I installed the python-mad decoder that
is listed in the k3b document, but I don't see how to get

Only 1.2x when burning DVD
Hello all
I've got a Matshita dvd-ram uj-830sx that is performing very bad on my
freshly installed CentOS 5. I'm using k3b and get a steady 1.2x which is
way too slow. I think it is supposed to do ~8x and the discs are 16x.
Any suggestions?
(hdparm -c 1 -d 1 /dev/hdc turned on 32-bit IO but only helped slightly)

First OT answer. If you can boot your macintosh, you can put image on it

Closing a multi-session disk
I have a disk which is not being recognised for reading, and I suspect that it
may be a multi-session disk which has not been closed. K3b seems to agree
with me, since it lists it as an appendable data cd. However, I can't find
any way to close the session in k3b.
I thought I remembered that it was possible to do that in xcdroast - which is
almost certainly the application that burned

[Slightly OT] Use CentOS to create a bootable Mac OS X DVD from dmg file?
Hi,
Sorry if this is only half-CentOS-related.
In my office, I'm running CentOS on all my systems (server, workstation,
laptop, sandbox PCs). A colleague brought me her MacBook Pro to upgrade
it from OS X 10.5.7 to 10.11.6.
I downloaded the 5.8 GB dmg file and now I wonder how to create a
bootable DVD with this using only Linux tools.
1. Can I simply burn this as a data DVD with K3B?

Yep. Just grab the 'netinstall' iso file and burn it. (It's about 7mb)
