HOW to REDIRECT to HTTPS?
I'm searching for a method [on client side] to redirect to HTTPS in a few given domains.
e.g.:
http://www.facebook.com/
to
https://www.facebook.com/
Ok. I use several webbrowsers, and not all of them has "add-ons" to redirect these pages to https.
My purpose is this: when i go to "http://www.facebook.com" i don't want to see any http traffic with wireshark

Security: gnome-screensaver VS. switch user
People "usually" suspend their laptop, so that they can continue their work when they open the laptop. OK!
Two choices [GNOME]:
1 - Menu -> Shut Down -> Suspend
in this case, the gnome-screensaver locks the PC. but the gnome-screensaver is just a "normal process", and it could be killed e.g.:

Re: Limiting the execution of Wine to allowed programs
Wow, I didn't expect anyone to reply...my bad. Actually I was more interested in landeel's idea of a custom Wineprefix. If I can do that, then I could also implement a DirectX fix for one of the older games...Sonic R, and fix that green patching. Well, I dunno how to implement the patch, but I know where the code is.
Since there's plenty of space on the hard drive, installing Wine

How can I install Wine on a computer without internet access
Hi,
Couldn't find the answer searching the forum.
I would like install Wine on a system that has Ubuntu 9.10 but NO access to the Internet.
I have another system with Ubuntu 8.04 which can access Internet, but the instructions at http://www.winehq.org/download/deb
seem to imply that it would install the Wine on my 8.04 machine.
Is there any binary I could download that I could put on a

Internet access not working on CentOS but on Windows when travelling
Hello,
I'm currently travelling (in south-eastern Europe) with a netbook
(Samsung NC 10) running CentOS 5.4 i386.
I frequently try to access internet from bars or hotels (mostly via wireless).
Although it works pretty often, it happens quite regularly that in
some hotels I cannot access internet from CentOS while it is possible
from Windows.
This is the case in the hotel where I am currently

firefox 18
Has anyone managed to get FF 18.0 to work on Centos 5.8?
I've been hacking at it, placing a stack of .so files (from Centos 6)
into a private directory, then using LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point the system to
(in a shellscript that subsequently invokes ff 18) but so far I've not
managed to find the right combination. I've moved over libstdc++, all
or nearly all the .so files from glib2 and

sandboxie like application for CentOS?
http://www.filehippo.com/download_sandboxie/
It's a great application [ for windows... :\ ]
Are there any programs under CentOS, that has the ~same features?
To be specific: The user could launch a program [e.g.: Google Chrome] inside this sandbox, and when he/she exits Google Chrome, all the changes that Google Chrome did is "undoed". + Google Chrome is in a sandbox, so it

opened OpenSSL port
Main question: is it safe, to open a port for an openssl server?
e.g.:
server side - generate a self-signed cert.
time openssl req -x509 -nodes -days 365 -newkey rsa:8192 -keyout mycert.pem -out mycert.pem
openssl s_server -accept 52310 -cert mycert.pem
Is it secure? - it could be DOSed' [DenialofService] or could it be attacked in any way?
Are there any iptables rule for restricting

New AD user cannot access file share from member server
I missed to mention it. But I actually did try changing the CN=users to
OU=ouname, and even leaving it out. I don't know why it didn't return any
results before, it does now - see my reply to James.

Can an App running on Wine access a network SMB printer?
Hoping to run a tight little retail app called regit on mixed (MSwin &
linux network) through Wine. When starting it gives up with "Run-time
error 484<-! Problem getting printer information from the system, Make
sure the printer is setup correctly".
All I have found re WINE and printing is there's not much (normally) to
do, Just works! with CUPS. I must admit I dont know
