new handling of equality
All,
Based mostly on the earlier thread on "should_be", we have introduced
a new branch called should_be_working_like_ruby with the new proposed
handling for equality.
Per the CHANGES file in that branch (rev 896):

When they fail they yield messages like:

ANN: RSpec 0.9.0 beta-1 available for download.
We''d like to get some feedback on RSpec 0.9 before we start pushing
out releases via Rubyforge''s gem server and update the website. We
have therefore made the first beta of 0.9 available - both prepackaged
and tagged in subversion (see below).

Possible Problem with RSpec and
Sorry to be such a pest but I am trying to learn Ruby, Rails and RSpec all
at one go and it is a bit overwhelming. I have previously completed the
depot tutorial in the Agile Web Dev with rails book and now I am trying do
do it again using RSpec.
What I would like to know now is why I am getting a rake failure error at

mocking successive return values

Partial mock when a complex return value is required
Hi
I''ve come up with a problem using RSpec on a model class in my rails
app. I wanted to test that some data was being cached for some
calculations, so rather than do state-based testing I tried to
specify that the method that fetches the data should NOT be called
when I call the calculate method. However in doing so I have to

There is an assert_difference helper for Test::Unit (you can read
about it at http://blog.caboo.se/articles/2006/06/13/a-better-
assert_difference and to some it should look familiar -- you know who
you are :), so I took a shot at one for rSpec on Rails.

file_column and HABTM
I have several models that will be using file_column by way of the
"Picture" class (HABTM). Right now, all pictures are stored in:
public/picture/image/1/filename1.jpg
public/picture/image/2/filename2.jpg
Is there a way I can dynamically define the "store_dir" based on the
model? For example, if I have "user", "product" and "place" models all

Multiple Models w/ acts_as_ferret
I have multiple models all with:
acts_as_ferret :fields => [...]
(models = profiles, blogs, comments )
When I restart the server and perform any crud operation on one of the
above models, the index is created/updated. If I then go and perform
any crud operation on ANOTHER model, ...the index from that first model
is being updated.
Any ideas? Can acts_as_ferret handle this?

form_remote_upload plugin
form_remote_tag does not support the input type=file. This is due to
javascript security limitations. I created a plugin that modifies
form_remote_tag so that if you pass it the option: :html =>
{:multipart => true}, it will submit via an iframe, allowing you to
upload files. It works nicely with file_column :). Currently, it
only works with RJS templates (no :update option), and I only

As things stand now, the following will all pass:
true.should_be true
"true".should_be true
"false".should_be true
3.should_be true
etc
My feeling is that "should_be true" should only pass if it returns
boolean true even though ruby says that non-nil/non-false is true.
Anybody else?
