Running R in a sandbox
Hello,
The idea is to grant access of remote users to R running on Linux.
Users must have ability to run their
R scripts but avoid corrupting the operating system.
How one can restrict/limit access of remote users to certain R
functions? For example, dealing with IO (file system), graphical
tools, etc.
Thank you.

Restricting R session
Hello,
Is it possible to use R on public server where each user has its own
restricted R session?
In particular, how to prohibit some set of functions, for example,
from "base" package?
How to limit session operating memory and CPU time? What additional
security considerations must be taken care of?

trends for georeferenced spatial global grid
Hello,
There is a task to derive a linear trend, for ex. 5 units/month for
values located at the georeferenced global latidute-longitude grid.
There are several grids corresponding to time steps, say for a month
with 6 hour interval.
Sure, one can create a loop and derive a trend value for each data point.
Is there a better practice for this task to express it in a line or
two or a dedicated

Isolines in vector format
Dear R users,
I am working with netcdf data of NCEP/NCAR Climate Reanalysis. R does
have capability to draw isolines using "contour". However, I need not
to draw but to export contours in any vector format. Is it possible?
Thank you.

Background Task: How to?
Hello everyone, my app is Twitter based, and all I have to do is get
the tweets of a given user and retweet it in other twitter profile..
so when user1 tweets, user2 must automatically retweet. I think I must
write some background job to make this work but I don''t know how? Any
ideas? Any gem intended for things like this?
Thanks!

Path and Url
Hello everyone, what''s the real difference between root_url and root_path in
Rails, for example. Apparently both lead to the same route in the
application.
Thanks!

ggplot2 problem
Dear all,
We are trying the code from the paper
(http://www.jstatsoft.org/v40/i01/) to build stars for each point on
the map (plyr package). It uses ggplot2 package and works fine for
ozone data but we can't get it work for our data (probably due to
misunderstanding of some issues).
Our data is SO2 time series for each point on the map with 0.25
degrees step. It has both NA, negative and
