Replacement for Linux-HA (heartbeat) - RedHat cluster?
Hello,
I'm beginning to give up on making Linux-HA's heartbeat work for my
environment (CentOS x86_64) and am wondering what other option have I got to
help me:
1. Use IPVS to maintain a cluster of virtual servers, either master/slave or
load-balanced.
2. Use DRBD in master/slave fashion to keep a home-grown application
highly-available.
The first thing I stumbled upon is RedHat Cluster

Yum problem on Centos 5.3 (64-bit)
Hello,
I'm having a yum problem updating a system on Centos 5.3, 64-bit ...
i.e. 'yum update' returns "No Packages Marked for Update". Problem
appears to be related to connecting to the mirrors where the
repositories are located but I could be wrong in that. What's confusing
me is that I have another system (Centos 5.5, 32-bit) that's working fine.

Diskless client from system-config-netboot doesn't boot.
Hi folks,
I've followed a set of instructions I found on
http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/centos_linux_guides/centos_enterprise_linux_sysadmin_guide/ch-diskless.htmli
which describes using system-config-netboot to set up PXE booting.
I used a CentOS-4.3 install (custom, all options de-selected, then
anaconda-busybox installed after the fact) as a reference/base. I

domain logons - prevent multiple logins with the same account
hi
i'm trying to solve this problem, i've came up with a solution, but i don't think that this is the best availibe method for this problem
i read about that samba does provides a 'preexec' call that can prevent a share to be accessed, and i figured out, that with this i can
reject access to a share if the user have already logged in from another maschine.

[PATCH] [1/1] Allow underscores in user environment string
Hi all,
I've noticed that OpenSSH 7.7 adds stricter validation of user
environment strings from authorized_keys files. While strict
validation is a good thing from a security perspective, this new
change specifically blocks underscores which are common to include in
a user environment string. This results in the key being rejected
outright. Including underscores in a user environment is a

administering an MS Windows partition under Linux
Hi all,
If I have a dual-boot machine (Linux and Windows) would I have any
good tools under Linux that would allow me to look at the content of
the Windows boot partition, administer it, clean up the registry,
remove viruses if any, etc? The Windows installation seems to be so
defective as to be quite useless so I am trying to think of a good
strategy for dealing with the situation.

Configuring Mongrel logging
Is there any way to configure Mongrel''s logging? Specifically, I''d like to
get it to output to syslog. Our Rails apps already do this (via
SyslogLogger) - is there any way to persuade Mongrel to do the same?
Thanks!

Problems configuring SAMBA share on remote machine
I'm having problems getting a SAMBA share on a remote (Windows XP)
machine to allow me write access to files. I can copy/paste whole files
OK from my CentOS 5 box, but can't do any editing of files on the
Windows XP machine, which I use as a file server for most of my domestic
data (historical reasons for using Windows!). I've tried re-setting
permissions to allow write access to the

I installed named.conf along with localdomain.zone, localhost.zone,
named.broadcast, named.ca, named.ip6.local, named.local, named.zero

I''ve been following documentation provided at [1] in order to setup a

Configuring atrpms repo?
Afternoon,
Sorry for being dense but I can seem to configure the repo for atrpms
correctly. I've tried a few things and none of them seem to work so
rather than embarrass myself in regard to yum repo configuration, can
someone post the repo configuration?
TIA!

Configuring Deltacom pri in Florida
Hi guys,
Trying to do a pri pass-through with a duel port t1 card from Digium.
I have port 1 setup to come in and out from Deltacom and port 2 to feed the
pbx.
Incoming calls work from Deltacom just fine, but outgoing do not.
Anyone know what switch type I may need to get the dial-outs to work or
anything else I might need?
Thanks,
Tom
