NOUVEAU_LEGACY_CTX_SUPPORT Fan Speed
As of kernel 5.1.9, on resume from suspend, my NV50 fan runs at full speed.
Not sure if it has to do with this new config option (NOUVEAU_LEGACY_CTX_SUPPORT)?
This issue is not present using kernel 5.0.21.
Years ago I filed a similar issue:
60704 – [nouveau, git regression] - I2C PWM fan control broken on nv50 adt7475 on kernels 3.3.x+
Thanks.

NOUVEAU_LEGACY_CTX_SUPPORT Fan Speed
I don't really see anything between v5.0..v5.1 which would account for
this. Could have been a subtle change to the i2c logic somewhere. The
fastest way to identify the problem would be to do a bisect on the kernel
to identify the commit that caused this. There are many guides for this
online.

Supermicro P4SGA board?
Anyone have any experience/knowledge on the Supermicro P4SGA motherboard?
Supermicro's tech support suggested that specific MB as a low latency
board with a reasonable pci bus. Expect to use this with the Digium
TDM fxo card.

Addressing the problem of noisy GPUs under Nouveau
Hi Martin,
I was asked to clarify a few things:
(1) Are all the user reports of loud fans on Fermi-era GPUs?
(2) When the VBIOS POSTs the card, it loads initial ucode onto the Falcon
processor (PMU), which will do basic fan management on its own. We call this
init ucode "IFR" (Init From ROM). nvidia.ko will restore the IFR ucode when
unloaded. I assume the loud fan symptom occurs

NOUVEAU_LEGACY_CTX_SUPPORT Fan Speed
Thanks for finding this Emil! The change you point out also landed on 4.19.49 and I am able to reproduce the fan speed issue with that kernel as well, whereas previous 4.19.x series kernels were fine.
I'll attempt to build both the latest 4.19.x and 5.1.x stable kernels with that patch reverted and see if it's the sole culprit.

NOUVEAU_LEGACY_CTX_SUPPORT Fan Speed
Hi Mar,
Could you file a bug (bugs.freedesktop.org under xorg -> Driver/nouveau)
with a summary of this info (i.e. a problem statement, that reverting the
commit in question fixes it, the lspci output) and additionally, your
VBIOS. You can obtain this with nouveau loaded by doing
cp /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/vbios.rom /tmp
This will help centralize all the info.
Thanks,
-ilia

pwm fancontrol kernel module??
Hi,
I have just setup CentOS4 on a system and want to get "fancontrol"
working.. I am able to get lm_sensors configured but when I run
pwmconfig I am told there are no modules loaded..
What module needs to be loaded for pwmconfig and fancontrol to work?
(Board does support PWM in the fans because fancontrol worked on this pc
with Ubuntu)
TIA

supermicro server model
Hi Guys,
Im planning to purchase Supermicro server but I dont have idea what Motherboard and chipset model will work with TE406P.I read one post here that the chipset should be Intel E7520.Is it true?Is there other recommendation? My requirement by the way is to handle 1000 simultaneous calls.
Does dualcore xeon (single cpu) and 2gig memory can handle this w/o

To all..
I was using a Gigabyte motherboard, and the board seems like a bad choice.
What do you guys recommend for a decent server board that would use a Dual
Core processor and DDR2 ram. I dont want to replace the CPU and Mem i
already have, just find a decent board that supportsthe existing..
Thanks,

Addressing the problem of noisy GPUs under Nouveau
Hello,
Some users have been complaining for years about their GPU sounding like
a jet engine at take off. Last year, I finally laid my hand on one of
these GPUs and have been trying to fix this issue on and off since then.
After failing to find anything in the HW, I figured out that the duty
cycle set by nvidia's proprietary driver would be way under the expected
value. By randomly changing
