Faster way to import Thunderbird pop emails into dovecot imap Maildirs?
Until recently, I was using POP on my desktop and imap to access my email
on my phone and laptop. Got tired of not having everything everywhere, so
decided to go full imap.
Followed the suggestions online and created a new imap account for my site
in Thunderbird and copied my pop folders over to the imap ones so that the
emails would get uploaded to the dovecot server and Maildir folders.

Feature Suggestion - scp don't decrypt file at destination unecrypt on copy back switch
Hi all,
Please pardon me if this has been discussed already on this list.
I searched on "destination" and did not find a hit.
The problem I am trying solve is having backups on a remote server
that even root cannot not read. I have seen lot's of specialized file
systems and volume drivers for various operating systems. But being
that all files are already scp'd to the

ControlMaster, scp and current working directory
Hi,
It seems there is a problem regarding ControlMaster and scp'ing a file
depending on the current working directory:
$ cd ~/Personnel
$ scp -o ControlMaster=yes cox.jpg host.local:
muxserver_listen bind(): No such file or directory
lost connection
$ scp -o ControlMaster=no cox.jpg host.local:
cox.jpg 100% 222KB 222.1KB/s 00:00
$ cd

Extremely slow on certain files
I'm trying to rsync a large data set (approx 140K files, 4TB) between machines
directly connected on gigabit ethernet.
Normally it runs around 20MB/sec, which is acceptable.
However, it seems like there is one particular file that is giving rsync
heartburn... whenever it encounters this file, the speed drops down to 150KB/sec
speed within a few seconds. I don't know what's so

data filtering
I would like to know if there is a way to do the following command in
one step, primarily for speed on large data (5 million elements), and
secondarily for readablity.
mean(delta[(intersect(which(x[['class']]==0),which(delta<1)))])
Do I really have to rely on an intersect operator? Isn't that
O(nlg(n))? Can't I just filter in one step? As an R newbie, I would
have guessed

Cisco vs. 6.9
After upgrading a Linux system from OpenSSH 6.7 to 6.9, Cisco
switches/routers can no longer scp config files to/from the system. The
last debug entry before the Cisco device closes the connection is "debug1:
server_input_channel_open: confirm session". The next line is "Connection
closed by x.x.x.x". Anyone else seen this or know of a fix? The Cisco
device gives

debug output when ssh'ing a remote host
Hi list,
I'm not sure whether this (see below) is a "bug" or a feature but as I cannot find any information on this neither in the INSTALL file nor via ./configure --help or somewhere else, I would like to ask you whether there is an answer to my question.
Thanx a lot & kind regards - have a nice day,
B. Courtin

Bash Script help...
Hi All,
I need to write a script that I will manually start (or a cron job in
future) but I need it to do a number of things in order one after
another. How do i do that so everything gets dont as the steps depend
on each other.
Example:
cd /system_backups/
tar cvf apache-conf.tar /etc/httpd/conf/*
gzip -v9 apache-conf.tar
tar cvf apache-data.tar /var/www/*
gzip -v9 apache-data.tar

logLIk(lme(...))?
Hello, all:
I have a dataset with 2 groups. I want to estimate 2 means and 2
standard deviations. I naively think I should be able to use lme to do
that, e.g., lme(y~gp, random=y~1|gp, method='ML'). I think I should get
the same answer as from lm(y~1, ...) within each level of group. I can
get the same means, but I don't know how to extract the within-gp
standard

Question about food sampling analysis
Greetings to all, and my apologies for a question that is mostly about
statistics and secondarily about R. I have just started a new job that
(this week, apparently) requires statistical knowledge beyond my training
(as an epidemiologist).
The problem:
- We have 57 food production facilities in three categories
- Samples of 4-6 different foods were tested for listeria at each facility
- I need

current deployment options
- Have been away from RoR development for a couple of years.
- Will be doing a new project soon, starting with RoR 3.1.
- This site will be hosted on a dedicated user-controlled server inside their intranet, so this question is not about hosting services.
- Expect about 100,000 page views a day, with a bit more spikiness than normal around some shift changes, so provisioning as if for 500,000

OpenSSH could be faster...then why don't they path it??
https://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/hpn-ssh/hpn-v-ssh-tput.jpg
"SCP and the underlying SSH2 protocol implementation in OpenSSH is network performance limited by statically defined internal flow control buffers. These buffers often end up acting as a bottleneck for network throughput of SCP, especially on long and high bandwith network links. Modifying the ssh code to allow the buffers

Broken repo / mirrors?
I fixed my earlier problem with a 'yum clean all', now I am getting this
problem:
'Package does not match intended download'
for both device-mapper and net-snmp-libs, for ALL of the mirrors. Log
of the output is attached.

mac users: what program do you use to create your views?
just wondering if there is a better way to create a nice view other than
using iweb. like, it would be nice if you can design a view, and then
just add the ruby tags.
thanks.

two different channels has yet to be fixed, and it prevents my

OT: Work offer - SAMBA consultant required in Sydney, Australia.
Hi all - sorry for the off-topic posting - just that the list of consultants on the samba site is horrendously out of date! I thought that this would be the best place for me to find suitable resources...
firstly I would like to say thanks a million to all the samba team for your ongoing efforts and great product. I just wish I had more time to experiment with it!

recent stability problems with fxp driver
I've spent the past four days or so updating machines here to 4.8/9-stable via
cvsup, and have done a complete make buildworld/kernel on each machine (some
SMP, some single processor). It seems something is broken with the latest fxp
driver, on each machine (different mobos and hardware configs) heavy network
traffic with fxp NICs causes timeouts and random kernel panics.

SSH using Keys, no password and SFTP?
HI All,
I have setup (and it was so easy) using SSH with keys instead of password authentication. I want to turn password authentication off completely.
What I dont understand is how SFTP would work them. I dont see any settings in my FTP clients to use SFTP without providing a password.
If that is the case, that is fine since the FTP users have no real privileges except to their own web

New Mustek UPS model working
Hello,
first of all I'd like to thank all the NUT developers for their gorgeous
work and for their efforts to make NUT the best and most complete UPS
management software I've ever seen (seriously).
Secondarily I'd like to help the NUT project as far as my help is
needed, I'm not a programmer (by now...) but I would like to help
somehow anyway.
I have 3 UPS from the same
