iscsi multipath fails
Hi all, I have a Dell server running cent 5.6, new install, connecting to an IBM DS3500. I have configured iscsi connections using iscsid and can log into the targets on the IBM. I can also mount the LUNs when accessing them from their active controller path. When I throw multipath into the mix, it fails completely. Multipath is working, when I run multipath -ll it shows me the correct active

Multipath-root (mpath) problems with CentOS 5
Hi list! I have a server with dual port Qlogic iSCSI HBA. I set up the same LUN for both ports, and boot the CentOS installer with "linux mpath". Installer detects multipathing fine, and creates mpath0 device for root disk. Installation goes fine, and the system boots up and works fine after the install from the multipath root device. After install the setup is like this: LUN 0 on

ZFS and multipath with iSCSI
We''re currently designing a ZFS fileserver environment with iSCSI based storage (for failover, cost, ease of expansion, and so on). As part of this we would like to use multipathing for extra reliability, and I am not sure how we want to configure it. Our iSCSI backend only supports multiple sessions per target, not multiple connections per session (and my understanding is that the

Libvirt with multipath devices and/or FC on NPIV
Hello, I am trying to find out a best practice for a specific scenario. First of all I would like to know what is the proper way to set up multipath, who should care about it the host or the guest. Right now I have a setup where I have one multipath which sets my host to boot from FC SAN. I have another multipathed LUN in the host which is essentially a dm which I attached to a guest, however

OCFS and multipathing
I've got my RAC cluster running pretty smoothly now (thanks again for all the help so far), but I only have single connections between the servers and the RAID array. The servers each have two Qlogic HBAs, and I'd like to find out if there's any reasonable way to implement multipathing. The platform is RHEL 3, and Red Hat's knowledgebase indicates that they strongly recommend

stale dm-multipath mappings
Greetings, I've hit this exact 'bug': https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=491311 I need to remove the mappings manually. I assume this is done via 'multipath -F' followed by a 'multipath -v2' ? Has anyone experienced doing this on a production system? We can do it during hours of low activity, but we would prefer to keep the databases on this host online at

iscsi storage, LACP or Multipathing | Migration or rebuild?
Hi, I do have one iscsi storage with 4 GBit nics of which currently only one is configured with an ip and which is in productive use by one cent os 6.3 server. Doing some research brought me to the idea to use some nic bonding or multipathing for that storage, but multipathing I did about four or five years ago only once :) Furthormore I can't find the ultimate answer (may be there is not

iscsi and the last mile...
I have a new Dell PowerEdge 2950 running CentOS 5.0 out-of-box and a Dell MD3000i. I am new to iscsi and, with google and included documentation, am having a heck of a time trying to get the RAID volumes I have created on the 3000i to be seen by the OS as usuable drives. I have printed out SMcli and iscsiadm documentation. I have asked on the linux-poweredge at dell.com site, too. Many

multipath using defaults rather than multipath.conf contents for some devices (?) - why ?
hi all We have a rh linux server connected to two HP SAN controllers, one an HSV200 (on the way out), the other an HSV400 (on the way in). (Via a Qlogic HBA). /etc/multipath.conf contains this : device { vendor "(COMPAQ|HP)" product "HSV1[01]1|HSV2[01]0|HSV300|HSV4[05]0" getuid_callout "/sbin/scsi_id -g -u -s /block/%n"

Multipathing with Sun 7310
Dear list, we have a relatively new Sun Storage 7310, where we connect CentOS 5.5 Servers (IBM LS21/LS41 Blades) via Brocade Switches, 4GBit FC. The Blades boot from SAN via qla2xxx, and have no harddisks at all. We want them to use multipathing from the very beginning, so /boot and / are already seen by multipathd. Problem is, that the Sun 7310 has two storage heads which run in

Qlogic HBA scanning issues with CentOS 5.1 ?
Hi, I got few servers (IBM HS20,HS21 blades, IBM xSeries 3650 & others) connected to a dual fabric san throught Qlogic HBA's (23xx, 24xx). Multipathing is done with device-mapper-multipath. On CentOS 4.x i can scan for new scsi devices without any problems, get them up with multipathing & use them without any problems. However, after i started installing CentOS 5.1 (did not

kickstart install on SAN with multipath
Using CentOS 5.1, though with a few hours work I could update to 5.2.. I can install to SAN with a single path no problem but I'd like to be able to use dm-multipath. From the kickstart docs it seems this is supported but there is no information as to what the various options mean http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.1/Installation_Guide/s1-kickstart2-options.html -- multipath (optional)

Help setting up multipathing on CentOS 4.7 to an Equallogic iSCSI target
I'm trying to test out an Equallogic PS5500 with a server running CentOS 4.7 I can create a volume and mount it fine using the standard iscsi-initiator-utils tools. The Equallogic box has 3 Gigabit interfaces and I would like to try to set up things so I can read/write from/to the volume using multiple NICs on the server i.e. get 200+ Mbyte/s access to the volume - I've had some

device-mapper multipath
I am attempting to get multipath working with device-mapper (CentOS 4.2 and 4.3). It works on EVERY install of mine from RH (also v4.2, 4.3), but the same multipath.conf imported to all my installs of CentOS do not work. Note that I have tested a working 4.2 configuration file from RH on CentOS 4.2 and a working 4.3 configuration (it changed slightly) on CentOS 4.3. Neither worked. Our production
