Is it okay?
Hi, I have downloaded the following version: CentOS-5.5-i386-LiveCD-Release2.iso from the mirror: http://ftp.iitm.ac.in/centos/5.5/isos/i386/ What I want to ask is that 'Release2' is the complete OS and after installation we can use 'yum update'. So at first, is it enough (as I am not going to download the complete set of 7 CDs)? -- Regards, Parshwa Murdia Making the simple

Troubles for an non-IT beginner
hello, I am absolutely new, means from non-IT sector but have attraction (developed recently) towards linux and have chosen the centos distro for the installation as an OS in my home PC for personal use. I went to the page: http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/5/isos/i386/ But don't understand amongst the variety of options there. I also don't know the technical terms like md5,

For the OP: Did you even try Google before asking the list? Google should always be your first choice. http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/linux-iphone-6.html For Scott: If you install the VLC app on the iPad you can probably skip the transcoding and also having to add the video to iTunes first. You'll only need to transcode the audio if it uses AC3, which is proprietary and the owners

NFS Undercover needs to activate
I am using Ubuntu 8.10 with Gnome. I am running Wine 1.1.9, and Wine 1.1.11 and Wine 1.0.1. I am using 177 version Nvidia Drivers for my NX7300GS. It is 512MB Mem. I have Pentium 4 Dual Core 2GHz and 2GB Ram at 667MHz. I can install Need For Speed Undercover, I can install DirectX component with the aide of PlayOnLinux, but I can't get NFS to play. It tells me to activate. Other programs

Semi-OT: hardware: NVidia proprietary driver, C7.4
This is really frustrating. I've got a server with two K20c Tesla cards. I need to use the proprietary drivers to use the CUDA toolkit. Btw, I had no trouble at all with building for CentOS 7.3 I have what NVidia claims is the correct driver package, a 340 series. It appears to build, but then fails to load. The only error I see is "no such device", which makes no sense to me, esp.

looking for a package
I'm trying to update a workstation, and it wants to update mpeg2-utils. But that has a dependency of libmpeg2-0.5.1-3, for i386. epel doesn't have it, and I tried looking on rpmfusion.org, and I can only find a very few packages there. Anyone have an idea which of the regular repositories carries libmpeg2? mark

article for consideration, Atheros 5007EG wireless card
I have a page where I document getting the increasingly popular AR5007EG Atheros wireless card working. (This is the card used in the Asus EEE PC). The current article covers several distributions, but would be modified to just cover CentOS. It does, however, involve getting third party software, as the rpmforge repos don't have the necessary drivers. (Apparently, it's a bit of a

Language support annoyance
I've got a user that wants Japanese language support in firefox... our *stock* CentOS firefox, 24.3. I've yum installed i18, and i10, and no joy. Looked at firefox addons, and there's one, 27.0. Won't install, "not compatible". Neither is either 24.0, or 25.0. Anyone have a link to a compatible version? mark
