OpenSC 0.8.0 Released
OpenSC Release 0.8.0
====================
We are pleased to announce the availability of OpenSC 0.8.0.
OpenSC provides a set of libraries and utilities to access smart
cards. Its main focus is on cards that support cryptographic operations,
and facilitate their use in security applications such as mail encryption,
authentication, and digital signature.
OpenSC can be used with the following

pcscd
Anyone working with/using it? One thing that's driving me nuts is that it
keeps spitting garbage into the logs (card absent or mute!!!). I just
tried editing /etc/init.d/pcscd - there's *no* way to pass parms from the
config file - and set the logging level to --error, and it's still doing
it.
Clues for the poor, to shut it up?

Firefox fails to authenticate .mil sites with New DoD CAC
Can anyone help with getting the new DoD CACs (Smart Card) to work in
CentOS 6.6? I don't use it for console logins, only for email and .mil
web sites.
I recently had to get a new DoD CAC (Smart Card) when one of the
buildings I work in upgraded their security system. My old CAC was
working fine prior to this for signing and encrypting email and for
authenticating to various DoD (.mil) sites

coolkey
anyone familiar with coolkey, an interface for smartcards? apparently
its built into centos5, but I don't seem to see it for centos4, and i
need to support both (actually, we have a lot more c4 systems in
production than 5)...
does anyone know offhand where to find el4 RPMs for this and its related
packages (pcsc-lite, etc) ?

A naive question respecting x.509 logins
I have been looking at replacing our current login systems with a single login
solution. In the process I managed to get sidetracked into investigating
pam_pkcs11. My question, which no doubt reveals the depth of my ignorance,
is: Can a simple USB flash memory stick be configured to work with this or
some similar module of which I as yet know nothing?
Everything I have managed to find about

Smartcard logon issue with pam_winbind and Kerberos auth
Hi folks,
I've ran into an interesting issue when I was trying to set up Winbind client to use smart card for authentication.
>From what I was able to gather, Winbind doesn't support smart card auth. To my surprise, I was able to authenticate without pam_pkcs11 or pam_krb5 in my PAM stack, using only pam_winbind, after I've added config like this into /etc/krb5.conf:

[ANNOUNCE] PKCS#11 support in OpenSSH 4.3p2 (version 0.11)
Hello,
The version 0.11 of "PKCS#11 support in OpenSSH" is published.
Changes:
1. Updated against OpenSSH 4.3p2.
2. Modified against Roumen Petrov's X.509 patch (version
5.4), so self-signed certificates are treated by the X.509
patch now.
3. Added --pkcs11-x509-force-ssh if X.509 patch applied,
until some issues with the X.509 patch are resolved.
4. Fixed issues with gcc-2.

openssh PKCS#11 support
Hello All,
As I promised, I've completed and initial patch for openssh
PKCS#11 support. The same framework is used also by openvpn.
I want to help everyone who assisted during development.
This patch is based on the X.509 patch from
http://roumenpetrov.info/openssh/ written by Rumen Petrov,
supporting PKCS#11 without X.509 looks like a bad idea.
*So the first question is: What is the

URGENT: Skip installation ix86 packages from kickstart on 64bit arch?
Hi,
Has any one know how to skip ix86 packages from
installation in Centos kickstart? Most of our machines
have 64bit Intel/AMD CPUs, and it make non-sense to
still keep 32bit compatibility. Even worse of i*86
packages is, when upgrade we have to recompile both
ix86 version and x86_64 version to get an automatic
yum upgrade.
I know we could use 'exclude' option to exclude i*86
packages

CentOS 6.7->6.8, ssh-add issue
Folks,
I am perplexed. I updated my workstation at work Wed before I left,
from 6.7 to 6.8. Then, yesterday, I went to use ssh-add -s
libcoolkeypk11.so, which I've done many times before to add the certs
from my PIV card... and 100% of the time if fails, letting me
SSH_AGENT_FAILURE, cannot add card.
Now, using a script called sccr, which uses my public and private key
to generate a

32-bit Centos 5.1 kickstart hangs on xen domU HVM installation
I am trying to a install Centos 5.1 32-bit Xen HVM DomU onto a Centos 5.1
64bit DomU with the default xen installed and the kickstart hangs at random
points during the install process. Sometimes retrieving the image, sometimes
formatting the filesystem, sometimes installing the packages, etc.
I tried upgrading to xen 3.2 and encounter the same problem before
rebuilding back to stock Centos 5.1
