occasional glitching when playing
Hello list I'm running Icecast 2.3.2. Every few seconds, streams are interrupted by a noticeable glitching or popping sound. It sounds like it's being caused by a buffering or latency problem but I'm not sure how to fix it. If the listener re-connects to the stream it stops the glitching for a few minutes, but eventually it returns. Glitching is also appearing in the dumpfiles

ext4?
Listee's... I have a 5.5 box and I have formatted a partition as ext4 however I can't mount it, the mount command is telling me its an unknown file system type. fsck tells me the partition is a clean ext4 partition but I can't mount it. Some reasearch has lead me to believe the problem is that ext4 isn't enabled in the kernel by default in 5.5 (this was originally a 5.2 box that

Adding SAMBA users in Centos 5.5
I have SAMBA working on Centos 5.5 - I can see and access my "home" directory from a Windows machine. I have created a new folder to share, changed the owner and group to my username and chcon -t samba_share_t to allow SELinux to share the folder. I can see this folder from Windows but not access it's contents. I think that the key reason is that there is no user assigned to the

EXT4 mount issue
Hi All, When a couple of EXT4 filesystems are mounted in a server I get the message Oct 1 18:49:42 sraid3 kernel: EXT4-fs (sdb): mounted filesystem without journal Oct 1 18:49:42 sraid3 kernel: EXT4-fs (sdc): mounted filesystem without journal in the system logs. My confusion is why are they mounted without a journal? They were both created with mkfs -t ext4 /dev/sdb mkfs -t ext4

Lost root access
So on a virtual server the root password was no longer working (as in I couldn't ssh in anymore). Only I and one other know it and neither of us have changed it. No other account had the correct privileges to correct this so I'm wondering, if I had mounted that vdi as a secondary device on another VM, browsed the file system and delete /etc/shadow would this have wiped all users passwords

Had it with Dell Garbage - HP Question
I've got two DL385s and a DL320, and they all rock. iLO especially rocks, but to leverage the full functionality, you'll need to get the "Advanced License", which opens up full blown remote console capabilities (via Java). It's a separate piece of hardware that, as long as the server PSUs have power flowing into them, lets you do things like remotely power on/off/reset the

lvm errors after replacing drive in raid 10 array
I thought I'd test replacing a failed drive in a 4 drive raid 10 array on a CentOS 5.2 box before it goes online and before a drive really fails. I 'mdadm failed, removed', powered off, replaced drive, partitioned with sfdisk -d /dev/sda | sfdisk /dev/sdb, and finally 'mdadm add'ed'. Everything seems fine until I try to create a snapshot lv. performance lost in using a software raid array with only 1 disk
Is there any performance lost in using a software raid array with only 1 disk? I was wanting to use the mdadm monitoring tools to monitor the machines single disk drive for failures and such. Is there any performance hit for such a setup? Some machines have RAID some machines dont (for me) and I was thinking about a common setup. Also then if I want in the future I can actually just add the

Centos 5.3, no AHCI on HP DL320 G5p?
I have one HP Proliant DL320 G5p, where for some reason, the AHCI mode is not enabled. According to server specs, it should have AHCI/NCQ capability, but ata_piix module gets loaded during bootup, not ahci module. CentOS 7: software RAID 5 array with 4 disks and no spares?
Le 18/02/2015 08:09, Niki Kovacs a ?crit : > > Apparently no spare devices have been created. So why do I only have 226 > GB of disk space under CentOS, when I had roughly 650 GB under Slackware? > An idea just crossed my mind. Could it be that 'df' is reporting a wrong partition size on the RAID 5 array? And how can I check if this is the case? -- Microlinux - Solutions
