I have centOS5.3 installed in the system. I have never updated it but now am planning to update. Want to install CentOS 5.5 by burning the image on DVD. On the link: http://mirrors.hns.net.in/centos/5.5/isos/x86_64/, there is a list given. CentOS-5.5-x86 64-bin-DVD.torrent is in the list. During booting, "mounting local filesystems [failed]" is displayed among other errors which I am unable to see as the messages proceed fast. Happy new year :D i have just installed centos 5.5 on my vmware to test my server,i found that i need nasm x64 to compile my assembly code,the yum database only has 0.98 version which does not support 64bit. the nasm version 2(rpm from offcial site) requires glibc 2.7, i know its a core component, but is there a way to upgrade it without break system? thanks for your time :D NamoBhagavan Max

After installing kmod-fuse rpm, I had given "/dev/sda3 /mnt/win ntfs rw,umask=0000,defaults" in the file /etc/fstab. Then I gave mount /mnt/win. But I couldn't copy files from system to the hard disk so I removed kmod-fuse by rpm -e command. I installed fuse-ntfs-3g rpm. Hi, Earlier I asked how I could arrange a bell tone on my CentOS box. I have pcspkr loaded, I can play music over my boxes but the system beep or bell is missing. Seeveral people commented on gnome issues, but I'm using only text-mode. Whe I go down with the cursor e.g. on the command-line I dont hear anything. Is there a way to switch the bell/beep on??? During partitioning, when I created swap = 6GB then additional 4MB free space was created and when I created ext3 for linux=217GB, then additional 7MB free space was created.
