Problem with SSHD update.
This morning I applied the 13 or so new updates to my servers. On one of them the ssh service and clients stopped working immediately after the update. I restarted the server in anticipation that there might be some instability introduced by updating on a system with active ssh connections. However, this has not cleared the problem. The packages in question are: openssh.i386

Bug: openssh-4.3p2-72.el5_6.3.src.rpm
Hello Group, I downloaded openssh-4.3p2-72.el5_6.3.src.rpm built the rpm and installed it. However, sshd daemon does not start when the host comes up. When I try to start it manually it says *Starting sshd: Auto configuration failed 29545 Error: 0E065068 configuration file routine: STR_COPY: variable has no value: conf_def.c:629: line 233 * and when I try to login from outside it fails.

Console access to kvm guest running WindowsV7
i86_64 CentOS-6.5 I have installed a Windows instance as a kvm guest on a host running CentOS-6.5. I can access the desktop through the virt-manager console and everythign seems to work, although the mouse cursor seems to get lost from time to time. The virt-manager console display supports various resolutions but when I re-size the desktop display remains essentially a square inside a letter

PostgreSQL 8.3.0 rpm packages for RHEL5/CentOS5
PostgreSQL 8.3.0 was released on February 4, 2008. There are a number of valuable enhancements in this version including Heap Only Tuples and integration of full text search. It is also reputed to provide a performance increase of at least 5% over 8.2.6. As usual, RHEL compatible RPMS are available at postgresql.org. However, there is a new (to me at least) project at http://yum.pgsqlrpms.org/

CentOS-5 PostgreSQL 8.1.9
I have installed pgadmin3 from Dags repository. I now wish to enable postgresql server instrumentation and my research indicates that I need to install postgres-contrib (done) and then run the admin81.sql script. I cannot find said script and yum whatprovides admin.sql or admin81.sql does not find anything. How do I enable server instrumentationt for my CentOS-5 installation? Regards, -- ***

Need help with postgresql authentication set up
OS - CentOS4 PostgreSQL = 8.0.3 I think that I need to locate a custom pam module to use in pg_hba.conf that will allow phpPgAdmin to authenticate users against /etc/password (shadow). I cannot seem to find a straight forward reference to such a beast either in the documentation or on the web. The pam modules that I have found through google seem to be intended to allow one to authenticate

CentOS-4.3 and PHP PostgreSQL extension.
I need to enable pg support on one of my CentOS servers. I know nothing about PHP but DRUPAL requires a DB backend and we have standardized on pg rather than mysql. The PHP.net page devoted to the subject of pg says that to enable pg support PHP must be built with the flag "--with-pgsql[=DIR]" and that the required support extension must be loaded via the /etc/php.ini file with the

Starting a java applet from the desktop
CentOS-5.4 i86_64 I have a calculator applet on my desktop (superbcalc.jar). When I double click on it I get no response. If I right click and select open with java I get no response. If I open a terminal window and cd to Desktop and type java -jar superbcalc.jar then the applet opens. Does anyone have any idea why I am seeing this behaviour? There are no messages in the syslog file relating

PostgreSQL 8.1 on CentOS4
I have discovered that the default init script distributed with pgsql v8.1 sets the listening port to 5432 but does not enable tcp/ip connections. One must add the -i switch to the invocation line in the script. I am not sure if this is an oversight or whether there is another way to tell postmaster to start with tcp/ip listening enabled that I am unaware of. However, I thought that this

SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/chcon "mac_admin" access
CentOS-6.1 KVM guest on CentOS-6.1 host. I am seeing this SEAlert in the /var/log/audit/audit.log file a new guest immediately after startup. Can someone tell me what it means and what I should do about it? A Google search reveals a number of Fedora issues with similar errors dating back a few years; most of which seem to have something to do with package ownership. This guest starts without

[Fwd: GThread-ERROR **: GThread system may only be initialized once.]
I posted this to the Jitsi users mailing list on Thursday last and have received no replies. Does anyone here have any idea of what is causing this and how to fix it? One other bit of information. When I first installed Jitsi it initially worked for a non-privileged user as I ran it from the gnome menu of my login account. However, at some point it seemed get 'confused' and hung.

vsftp 500 OOPS: SSL: cannot load RSA key
vsftpd-2.0.1-5 I am trying to get vsftpd to start with ssl_enabled=yes and not having much success. The config file works when ssl_enabled=No and does not work when ssl_enabled=Yes. I have tried setting the following: rsa_cert_file=/usr/share/ssl/certs/inet06cert.pem which is the public certificate and this: rsa_cert_file=/usr/share/ssl/private/inet06key.pem which is the server private
