New to Centos
Good day,
I would like to first test and then use centos 5.5.
I downloaded centos 5.5 x86_64 live CD.
Problem...screen resolution only 800x600.
In fedora 14 it is 1024x768, same in debian squeeze and opensuse11.3.
Could there be a way to increase the resolution? in either i386 or x86_64.
Thanks

centos 5.5 x86_64 live cd
good day,
I am new to centos.
Using a standalone laptop.
Downloaded and burned the live cd.
All seem ok except screen resolution only 800x600.
Most importand I do not seem to find the install to hard disk option
anywhere.
Some distros I tried do have an option to install on the screen when you
are happy about the OS.
Googled but could not find the howto for the live cd install.

screensavers in general
Hi,
I tried some windows screensavers with Wine.
Most screensavers start with the configuration screen without a possibility to start the main
screensaver part.
It's the same thing when I rename a screensaver file from 'somewhat.scr' to 'somewhat.exe' and
try to run it with a doubleclick on my Windows 2000 PC. (*.scr: the screensaver starts, *.exe: the configuration screen

Screensavers on Centos-7
Hi all!
I keep having problems with screensaver(s) on Centos-7.
I have in the past liked Xscreensaver, so I've installed it and tried
to suppress whatever other screensaver is on the system. Xscreensaver
works fine for a day or 20 then quits working. After a lengthy battle
I gave up and removed it.
I'm now trying mate-screensaver, which does the same thing!
when I say "quits

Windows Screensavers
Hi all!
I have found a way to get using (some of) Windows Screensavers using an
AutoHotkey script to start them automatically. If someone is interested, I
can post a short howto soon.

E-volved Cultures screensaver
Hello all.
The best screensaver of all time in my opinion is E-volved cultures, available here:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~notnot/E-volverLUMC/screensaver.html
Not only are the images it creates highly aesthetic, but they can seamlessly tile, so they are perfect for many applications. My current desktop was generated by this screensaver.
I've tried everything though and it won't show up. I

Extracting Numeric Columns from Data Fram
Hello,
I've got a data frame with a mix of numeric, integer and factor columns.
I'd like to pull out (or just operate only on) the numeric/integer columns.
Every thing I've found in searches is about how to subset by rows,
or how to operate assuming you have the column names. I'd like to pull
by type.
Thanks!

The program yum-complete-transaction is found in the yum-utils package.

idle timeout on Centos6
Dear All,
I'm using Centos6 with Gnome Desktops.
As far as I can tell the default idle timeout is 5 minutes.
I try to set this to 15 minutes with this command:
gconftool-2 --direct --config-source
xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type int --set
/apps/gnome-screensaver/idle_delay 15
This doesn't change the value in System-Preferences-Screensaver. And
