ldif invalid per syntax
Hello CentOS
I am having a bit of trouble importing an ldif into openldap, tho the
syntax looks a-ok to me. I am attempting to import my sudoers list
into my ldap configuration and I used an application called sudoers2ldif
to generate the ldif.
I used the following command to import the file:

hi list.. I am trying to add an ldif with my users that I have derived
from /etc/passwd. for some reason ldapadd is choking on the first
entry... I've also tried removing the first one and predictably each
one fails in exactly the same way...may I ask how best to correct
this?
Here is the error:

amanda backup ssh key
hello list,
I am attempting to ssh via a user account setup for amanda backups
from the backup server to the test backup client. AFAIK everything is
setup correctly yet when I ssh as the user to the client I have to
type the password. the public key is in the authorized_keys file of
the client and permissions all seem correct.
Here is a verbose output of the ssh session

virtdown script
hello list!
I have a small shell script that I wrote that is meant to quickly bring down all of my xen instances in a quick and easy manner. Odd thing is, it does work on the command line. But if I put it into a script this happens:

it expects another command to happen. which is odd since all of the text delimiters (" and ') are

hello centos.. I am having a very annoying problem on my network right
now. it looks like every time I try to add my ssh key to keychain I
have to issue a command just to get my ssh subsystem communicating

I have this line in my .bashrc file

If I try to perform ssh-add I get the message:

migrating users to openldap
I noticed that when I migrated my users with the migrate_passwd.pl
tool from PADL it didn't migrate the actual passwords (just the rest
of the posixAccount info). I think I need to set the EXTENDED_SCHEMA
variable and then try running the tool again. does anyone know what
this should be?
I actually thought there might be a migrate_shadow.pl tool that could
accomplish this, but there

can't use godaddy SSL cert
Hey list,
I was having a similar SSL/openLDAP problem to this last week. I had
a chance to look at this again today and it still appears to not be
working. I called godaddy and had the last cert cancelled and reissued
as I had mis-typed the name of the CN on the last one.
I am trying to setup a Godaddy turbo SSL certificate with an openLDAP
2.4 server under FreeBSD 8.1. The clients are mainly

Hello,
Setup:

I have two RedHat 7.2 (2.4.9-31) boxes that are attached to one external RAID
unit. Both boxes are able to see the RAID unit as /dev/sdb1, but only
one box mounts (cat /proc/mounts yields: /dev/sdb1 /nas ext3 rw 0 0) the unit
at any give time. The other box listens, via heartbeat (linux-ha), waiting to
mount the RAID unit, should it''s sibling crash (actually,

Fwd: Can Samba just store ACL information (without interpreting it) without AD?
Hi,
I read several articles on the internet, but I fail to understand how
ACL storage technically works. Of course in almost any case, ACL
should not only be stored but also evaluated, and for this this Samba
server needs to be a member of the AD domain. I think I understand
this, but I have a different use case. I hope someone can help and
possibly has a link or such.
I have a samba instance
