nfsv4 and kerberos - fails to mount
I have been trying all sorts of things to get this working. nfsv4 works fine if I just use the nfs-v3 form of export i.e. /nfs4exports 192.168.230.237/24(ro,fsid=0,sync,insecure,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check,squash_uids=0-99) /nfs4exports/NDG 192.168.230.237/24(rw,insecure,no_subtree_check,nohide,sync,no_root_squash,squash_uids=0-99) but this is inherently open to all on this machine. so then

SMBFS, automounting and NFS
Hi all, I have a question which we think has probably been asked before, but I can't find any solutions. Bofore I get to the details, I'll give some background. I work at a university and we have a bundle of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Our computer system is currently divided roughly into a windows (XP) system and a linux (Redhat 8.0) system. The linux servers have

NFS resources, how to check version
Hello, I set up NFSv4 server. To make sure I set vfs.nfsd.server_min_nfsvers=4. I can check its version, for example, by tcpduming and then I can see in wireshark lines like: Network File System Program Version: 4 V4 Procedure: COMPOUND.... .... is there any easier way to check its version? I see there is nfsstat -e option which shows delegs and locks. But all other ones are combined with nfsv3

NFS v4 on Centos and "Cannot allocate memory"
Hi all, I have a Centos server exporting a filesystem via NFSv4 and from my Ubuntu desktop I can mount it specifying the nfs version as 4 fine and read/write data. >From another Centos system trying to mount this exported filesystem results in "mount.nfs4: Cannot allocate memory" every time. Been banging my head against the wall for a while now... Anyone have any ideas? James

NFS V4?
Looks like just starting the nfs service turns on V2, 3, and 4 (based on reading the script, reading the man pages, and looking at the ports using netstat -l). However, I can connect using -t nfs in the mount, and -t nfs4 fails. I don't believe this is a firewall issue, internal IPs are fully open to each other according to an early rule in iptables. $ sudo mount host03:/home/ddb /mnt/ddb

Heartbeat and mount --bind for NFS v4.
Hi all. This is probably more of a HA list, or possibly even linux-practices, question but all hosts concerned are running CentOS and I reckon some of you guys might have some good suggestions. Feel free to tell me to piss off. :) I'm building a new CentOS, DRBD, Heartbeat and NFS HA cluster. We already have boxes running similar setups on FC2/3 running NFS v2/3 with the Ultra Monkey

NFS Ganesha
Hello! I am attempting to setup a Gluster install using Ganesha for NFS using the guide found here http://blog.gluster.org/2015/10/linux-scale-out-nfsv4-using-nfs-ganesha-and-glusterfs-one-step-at-a-time/ The Gluster portion is working fine, however when I try to setup Ganesha I have a problem. The guide says to run 'gluster nfs-ganesha enable' however when I do, I get the following

Status of DTrace NFSv3/v4 client providers
We recently had a strange NFS performance anomaly between a V880 running snv_124 and two NetApp filers. To investigate, a DTrace NFSv4 (and eventually NFSv3) client provider would been extremely helpful. Unfortunately, all I could find were a request for code review of a v3 client provider and another request for help developing a v4 provider. Nothing seems to have come from those initiatives,

proposed 'howto'?
I'm horribly new at this. I just went through the process of setting up CentOS to use PAM + Kerboros for authenticating users to an Active Directory domain. I ended up having to read a lot of out of date or related howtos to get what I need. I documented the process I used and just got done re-doing it on a fresh VM install to make sure I covered everything. I figured rather than

Linux Authentication Ideas
Hello Everyone, I have been tasked to work on consolidating authentication to achieve single sign-on using Active Directory. We have mix of Linux and Windows Hosts. All Linux hosts do local authentication currently and Windows hosts authenticates Active directory. I have been thinking of using Samba to authenticate Linux Hosts against Active Directory. I am fairly confident of configuring

I stream read - stale NFS file handle (reboot of server)
In the old days NFS Shared Path had a static handle (ie a number), normal based on some number pulled out of the file system/inode. To fix (well work around) a security issue, for about 10+ years now, when a NFS server reboots, it generates a new random handle for the NFS Share. (sever may generate a new random handle per mount request) The NFS Stale Handle happens when the client is still

Samba to share NFSv4 + ACL mounted filesystems on NetApp storage
Hi, We are running into a problem with a Samba setup and would like to know if a current fix or workaround is at all possible. Our setup is a NetApp filer serving NFS v4 that is mounted by Solaris and Linux servers. On those servers we are using Samba to create shares of those NFSv4 mounted filesystems. We are migrating to this NFSv4 setup from an existing Solaris NFSv3+Posix ACL setup that also

Linux & NFSv4 ACLs
I have a situation where I need to share, via Samba, a filesystem mounted via NFSv4. I'm struggling with the best way to make Samba see the NFSv4 ACLs and enumerate them to provide the proper SMB/CIFS access to the files, instead of "Access Denied" errors that I currently get. Looking at the Samba source, the only obvious NFSv4 stuff appears to be the following: - zfsacl, available

Samba 4 AD and VM migration between the free Hyper-V 2012R2
"Good day. Briefly about the situation. Installed sernet-samba4 (Version 4.2.3-SerNet-RedHat-18.el7, CentOS Linux release 7.1.1503, 3.10.0-229.7.2.el7.x86_64), AD domain is set up and works fine, windows servers and workstations added to the domain, no problem. Also added to the domain 2 hypervisor Hyper-V 2012R2. Faced with the next issue, I can not configure the replication and migration

Kerboros and Custom application
I'm trying to install an custom application the install is fine. After that I got a valid kerberos ticket. If I connect via SQLNet on the DB with the kerberos ticket it will works fine. If I start my custom windows application I can't login automatic but i got the login mask. It seems the kerberos authentication doesn't work and I got the following messages on log On a previous wine

nfsv4-acls for cifs and nfsv4
hi there - is it possible to share a directory via samba and (kernel-)nfsv4 in parallel and make samba use (ie.: read, write and enforce) nfsv4 acls to implement winnt-acls? i know that using nfs3 and posix acls is working halfway okay, but couldn't find anything useful for nfsv4 and the associated acls - sorry if i missed something obvious. i played around with the nfs4acl_xattr and

CentOS7 and NFS
Hi, I need some help with NFSv4 setup/tuning. I have a dedicated nfs server (2 x E5-2620? 8cores/16 threads each, 64GB RAM, 1x10Gb ethernet and 16x 8TB HDD) used by two servers and a small cluster (400 cores). All the servers are running CentOS 7, the cluster is running CentOS6. Time to time on the server I get: ?kernel: NFSD: client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx testing state ID with incorrect

samba-kerboros-winbind
I would like to be able to use Windows Active Directory accounts for logon to a Linux RH8 desktop. I have successfully used Kerberos to add the desktop to the AD domain. I am also able to use Kerberos or rpc to view users & groups. I have not been able to use winbind. I am using the Samba3.aplha22 RPM. Our AD domain has restrict anonymous set to 1 for the DC's. Following the How-To
