rpmforge.repo
How come rpmforge.repo wants to install a whole slew of perl modules,
yet if I leave rpmforge.repo out of the update process, none of the perl
modules shows up? Here's the rpmforge.repo file.. do any of yall see
anything wrong with anything in there?

nvidia dual monitor setup centos howto
I had some trouble setting up dual monitors on centos with an nvidia
card. I managed to track stuff down, so I thought I'd make it public
on the list. I have an nvidia quadro nvs 290 in a Dell, recently
installed centos5. Same stuff should apply for other nvidia cards.
I needed nvidia-x11-drv.x86_64. It is available from rpmforge.
Installing rpmforge is described on this

Today's log - yum entries
Hi list,
I have the following entries, below, in today's log file (for yesterday,
10th May).
I don't run the automated yum-updated and didn't run a yum update
yesterday, and no packages were installed. Obviously the entries are old.
I was wondering if anyone could offer an explanation?
Thanks,
Ned

rpmforge vs epel
I've been informed that rpmforge and epel do
not play well together and that if I use both,
epel should have the higher (lower numbered) priority.
Alas I had it the other way around.
rpmforge messed up my effort to get audacity.
I no longer need audacity,
but would like to fix the situation before some other problem crops up.
Would fixing the priorities and telling yum to

Status of RPMFusion repo for CentOS 5 and 6 ?
Hi,
I have to maintain (and eventually beef up) desktop clients in public
libraries running CentOS 5 and 6. The hardware is still OK, though
sometimes really old, so the least evil will be to keep CentOS 5 on the
old machines until that version is EOL.
I've been using CentOS 5 as my main system somewhere between 2007 and
2009. At the time the RPMForge was my favorite third-party repository,

Do you happen to know of somewhere other than rpmforge where I can find
hexedit and gqview for el6 ? Epel has them for el5, but not el6.
Fortunately, installing them from rpmforge didn't drag along any
dependencies.

where did all the nonfree rpms go? Nvidia? xine-lib-mp3?
I installed Centos on some machines that need long term support. I'm
running up against some simple user convenience issues.
How to play MP3?
I've been really puzzled today that the addon rpm sites like livna,
rpmforge, rpmfusion, epel, don't seem to have something like
amarok-mp3 or xine-lib-mp3. What am I missing? It can be done in
Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora Linux.

can't "yum install mplayer" : no libmpcdec.so.3 available
Just upgraded to 5.4 yesterday morning. (Kudos to those who did that!)
That's probably irrelevant to this problem:
"yum install mplayer" fails. Here's what happens:

Re: [users] CentOS 4.2 dag repo problem.
Hello,
It would be nice if we could get a full list of packages which have a wrong
sha1 checksum. I don't have the bandwidth for a full mirror of all of Dag's
rpms and i also don't have shell access to such a mirror. So a small
request for a mirror admin:
The following checks the files repodata/*.xml.gz against the sha1 sums in
repomd.xml and checks the RPMS/*.rpm files against
